Hi im new to the site and game so if this question sounds dumb i apologise in advance.
i have seen some realy cool conversions around and would like to do my own. creating a race for the ig that has never been done. i would use prob bits from warhammer/lotr 40k to make a human type race, slightly less advanced but good light inf.
would this be allowed?
any thoughts?

I don't see how anyone couldactually stop you, assuming you legally buy the models you use. It probably won't go down well in GW stores but then again there's always the option of wargames clubs, which are more flexible as to doohickys like that.

just aslong as there human go for it, i've a total mixture from converstions to gorkamorka boys, most of the geeks workshop staff are pretty pleased, to see classics and convertions, after all thats one of the founding principles of the game, so go on and good luck

While the idea it self is fine, I would not use the LOTR models, they are too small, so u'd have to convert lasguns down to size aswell. WH stuff should be fine tho, bt I think the LOTR will just look too small compared to otehr races. Post some pics tho when u'r done

I've been using Warhammer Fantasy and Mordheim parts to add some differences to my Catachan-body army. The older looking guys with long hair and beards make nice leaders. Also good for Hardened Vet squads.

yeah sounds like a fine idea to me, just like they have already said, don't use LOTR bitz because they aren't the correct sculpting scale or style.
But yeah of course you can do that, as long as they follow codex rules, they should be useable almost anywhere!
