I have a question regarding the Light Infantry and Sharpshooters doctrines being applied to units other than regular IG infantry squads.
I assume by the wording in the codex that you can use either doctrine on any unit on foot, but would that mean that light infantry and sharpshooters doctrines are allowed on heavy weapons support squads?
I would be really grateful for any answers to this question! Thanks!

Yep, both can be used on fire and anti tank support squads. Only specials lke storm troopers, ogrynes and hobbits can't have em. There is an all inclusive explanation in the codex in the doctrines section that list what does and does not count as guard inf units

I don't take heavy weapon platoons, so not sure on that one, but on HQ platoons, yes u can (or I've been playing it wrong lol). Check the entry in the codex that specifies what is guard infantry

I think it would be cool for Stormtroopers to get Snipers. The BS would help out alot.

Yeah actually right after posting this I re-read the doctrines preface in the codex, and at the bottom of the 1st column on the right hand page of the Doctrines Sections, and it answered my questions.
One thing I did learn though, is that you have to have at least 1 model with BS 3 in an "infantry guard squad" (IE, any regular or veteran guardsman on foot to my understanding) to apply sharpshooters! LAAAAME....
I really wanted to give sharpshooters to my HV's... bummer!
