I was just wondering what everyone thinks of conscript platoons?
This week I played my first game and while they didn`t kill a single enemy, they probably won me the game. My opponent (also a guard player) spent way too much firepower trying to wipe the squad off the board. I was wondering, is this often the case? Do your opponents give your conscript squad a disproportionate amount of attention due to the squads size.
Also, I`m thinking of dropping my armies vox network system to increase my conscript squad from 30 to 40. Would you recommend this? (I also have a 35 man infantry squad if that helps)
Thanks.

the nuts cause total disproportianal fear, its to do with the potential 100 las shots per squad per turn, even experianced players hate the thought of all those dice rolling, true its only 5/6's that count. but people really dont like the odds and if you can get a commisar in there so they wont run, even terminators dont like to get too close as 50 attacks back will eventually cause problems, and if you can get a charge with a priest, in there it can be devastating, however most opponents will spend that long pumelling them, to prevent that, you can do all sorts of flanking nonsense, in short i love meat shields, there great!

id give them the attention of a heavy weapon platoon for one turn but that would be it other then the random shooting they would deserve.

meat shields rock, they are the thorn in the side of evey one because most players who have gone up against them and underestimated them regreted it afterwards!

It seems like a win win situation. Opponents will either throw too much firepower at the conscripts or ignore them. I was surprised by the effect they had on my game. I originally only had them in my army to boost the Cadian theme but they certainly serve a purpose.
Dethklok, funnily enough thats the exact same conscript squad I use. I like to put the 3 flamers in there for that extra fear factor.

remember EVERYTHING is powerful in large numbers, Conscripts are no exception. I find while only BS 2, they still have the potential to cause some devastating damage.
While I dont really use them, if I ever was to Id be going for maybe a 40 man squad to spread out and well, die, but in the process leave time for my infantry platoons to hug cover and start to really kick ass. easy, well known tactic.

Hmmm...well....around here....nobody would care lol. "Whats a communist?" would be the most. anyways. Conscripts are cool, I think I may have to buy a ton of guard now...

Conscripts aren't super-powerful. I played a Combat Patrol in a forest setting and because the whole board was forest (6" visibility), they got slaughtered before they could do damage.
I'll be playing with them on a more open board next time. Hopefully things will go better.
