Can something that usually has to be held in Reserves use its Infiltrate rule? Like Ratlings in an Omega game?
It would seem to be a waste of points if you couldn't.

I have a sneaking suspision that of the units that have to be held in reserve only those with the Scouts special rule are allowed to deploy on the table.
I could be wrong, I'm not near a rule book, but I'll try and check in the Book when I get home tonight for you...

Just checked and I was right - see pg 75 of the BGB the Infiltrate special rule clearly states it "does not allow units that would normally be in reserve to deploy on the table". Whereas the Scouts special rule does allow this.

That's stupid. What's the point, then?

Oh, hang on - now I've reread the Escalation mission special rule. This states that any basic infantry (i.e. no jump or mechanised infantry, bikes etc.) can start on the table at the beginning of the game. Pg 84 BGB.
So the Ratlings for example would be able to start on the table and take advantage of infiltration.
Now it makes more sense!

Awesome. I thought that was kind of an ass-backwards way to do it.

Alright, just so I'm clear, anyone that has to hoof it (basic infantry) and has the infiltrate special rule can deploy at the begining of the game regaurdless of resrve restrictions? Oh, and Lupus that is an awesome baneblade.

The way I read it is that all basic infantry starts on the board in a mission using the Escalation rule. If they have the Infiltrate special rule then they can use it. Any other units start in reserve with the exception of those with the Scout special rule (e.g. Sentinels).
Thanks for the compliment mccaptain!
