Place your votes ladies and gentlemen for the most useless, irrelevant and unjustifiable part of Codex:Imperial Guard. Which unit stays permanently on paper, which doctrine is laughable, which piece of wargear was designed by 'Bloody Stupid Johnson' - you decide...
If you wish to add any options for the scrapheap, please feel free ... or violently abuse the offending option...
If you feel some inclination to defend one of the options above, fight away - you are however likely to lose...

cyber enhancement is just dumb. no one's ever gonna take that when there's carapace armor for the same amt. or cameleoline for half as much. dice only become valuable when you have to hit a 4+. 5+ and 6+ dice are all pretty much low-value bargain bin stuff. there's little difference between a 5+ or 6+ and no dice to roll at all.

The armoured fist is rather useless in its current form. You can normally only take 1 or 2 in a normal game and then they're just a huge point sink.
The mechanized doctrine is actually better than armoured company. Most players normally tend to overlook the fact that Chimera's are amphibian. That gives you really a good amount of tactical options when fielding them en masse. (not sure if it already has the amphibian rule in the codex, but with rule supplements you can get it, ie swampfighting and shore invasions)

I've never fought a swampfight or shore invasion but that's a pretty cool idea!

You missed Special Weapons squad with 3x Sniper Rifles vs. Ratling Squad. You get more Rats for the price and they are better (infiltrate, etc.).

I'm gonna have to complain about the special weapons teams in general...if I want a squad with three expensive special weapons, I'll give them to the Hardened Veterans who can at least make use of them with their good BS, not to mention the benefit of having a larger squad, infiltrate, and the ability to take a heavy weapon with them.
As mentioned above, Ratling snipers are a better cost than sniper teams, and if crazy cookpot midgets aren't your thing, you can always take allied Catachan Snipers, who definitely the best in my opinion as they use poison and you can field them separately (Lone Wolf Snipers all the way!). However, snipers in general are, amusing enough, pretty useless against most infantry. They're only good for picking at monstrous creatures, Talos and Wraithlords...but even then I'd take plasmaguns over them for the ability to ignore their saves, not to mention that you'll generally have more of your anti-tank weapons free against those armies.

I have to jump in for warrior weapons. Ever faced the 23rd Lostok with a Tyranid army? That's scary. The 'nid got ripped apart by the IG in CC... Warrior weapons can be quite good if you don't lack the skill to use them (I lack the skill)

Take a look at an equal point value of Rats vs. 3x Sniper Special Weapons squads and tell me that doesnt scream pointless.

Psykers are just rubbish... they've only come in useful as human shields to take some shooting wounds on the way in and protect the command squad.
I only have them because the models are REALLY cool.
In my humble opinion.

a couple of things. i hate armored Fists. rather spend the doc and take stormies instead. Special weapon teams are only really worth it with demos and deep strike (but boy are the worth it then) and as for warrior weapons, erm, lets see... 50 consripts with CCWs cost 300pts, for 150attacks on the charge... hmmm tasty

imho the truly redundant choice is xeno-fighters. 3+,4+... who's counting, you won't see regular guardsmen hitting xenos in close combat anyway(they play first and kill all your squad's sv5+ models, then you "strike back" with no models... lol.)what xenos cant kill 10 guardsmen instantly? eldar scorps, banshees and the like?lol.orks?looooool.nids?the lol from hell.for that reason, close combat=numbers for the guard, not upgrades.

I despise the bolt magnets, they never seem to work for me... Stupid psykers. psykers work damn well. with HI and FW they can kill any thing inn theyr way. howm dont want 3attacks on ws4 and the ability to innstant kill almost anything. whit a CP they can realy go character hunting. HSO: power weapon and pistol Commissar: ower fist and pistol Priest: eviscerator Psyker: HI force weapon. they can pwn annything in CC, even a carnifax or dreadnougth

a bit one sided and sugestive a poll, the options i always bin are the ones that make IG into poor but expensive CC loosers, but as most people on this site worship @ the alter of CC i'll not mention them. but you know what they are.

I think you mean Warrior Weapons sammy ... you nearly lost me there... no reason to feel "minoritised" about it fella. Guard's only use for close combat is to die slower than in a straight up fist fight ... we actually get a saving throw! *skips around the room*
