Looking at my Blood Angel codex it seems that Captain Tycho has Rites of Battle, but normal captains don't have it at all - unlike vanilla SM captains. This is very perplexing and makes it kind of pointless having a BA captain. Am I right in thinking this?
My own BA successor captain is a nice model, so I don't want to lose him. On the other hand if he has no 'RoB' then he's just a Lone Wolf type model..

Vanilla SM captains do not have Rites of Battle. (Not since the latest SMurf codex.)
The only difference from what I can tell is that BA don't get relic blades or artificer armor for their captains, and no combat tactics.

Other than the fact you can kit your captain out to face any different sort of threat, rather than the Monster/Vehicle killer that I use regular Tycho as, I don't see a great deal of point in fielding a regular BA Captain.

BA gives the opportunity to field the reclusiam command squads of old! Don't give that up for a captain. Use him as something else. Or make him a captain. What's so shiny about RoB?

Thanks, guys. No Rites of Battle it is then. A regular captain is just more fluffy than Tycho/ Sicarius, as you get to design your own. As there is no Death company in that particular army I'd prefer a captain to a chaplain.
