Hi chaps, I'm new to guard and to 40k (5th edition at least) I used to play marines about 15 years ago, but recently got given some guard stuff so thought i'd give it a go. here's my guard army so far, painted in the old school colours.

Nice, the simple colour scheme works well to tie in the different regiments, nice use of the Delaques.

Heres another pic - pretty simple paint job really, but very quick and effective as a whole. Attachments:

Wow, nice army you got going there! How did you paint up all the other stuff so quickly?
The Iron Crosses on the Sentinels look great.

tbh, I've been pretty addicted to buying stuff off ebay and painting them straight away.
Used a pretty simple method of base coating, dry brushing bleached bone, then washing with devlan mud.
40k is a great game, glad I've started playing again. that army has probably cost me about £150 so far. Not bad eh?

Not bad indeed!
I also find myself being more and more swayed by the forgeworld Executioner turret over the new GW one... ah decisions decisions!
Really liking the freehand work you've done.

Hi mate, i'm going to make myself look like a tit here but; what models did you use for the penal legion, i love them and i want to incorporate some Penal's into my army to counteract my arch-nemesis (SMurfs) scouts. and the basic theme of the army works really well and the iron crosses are amazing. Freehand? anyway keep up the good work dave
