you could do a guardsman carrying a heavy bolter by using a scout space marine w/ heavy bolter model and chopping him off at the arms. those shoulder plates on the scout models easily blend in with the cadian line of models

dude.
that looks awesome!
perhaps bwbitz.com (or is it bwbits.com) would be a good resource for buying bulk binocular bits without having to buy a ton of sprues/kits for one little bit

I cut the bino's to fit the helmet then glued it on, and filled the gaps with green stuff.
I'll post some more pics on the other conversion stuff if I can find them.

for the autocanon, use the sentinel autocanon. With little work (just glue it on your trooper!!) you put it instead of a lasgun....I recommend to use Space Marines arms (cut the forearms and glue them at the place of normal guardsmen forearms). It is quite easy and quick!!

For the berets you just take a head without a helmet (or shave the helmet off with a hobby knife and then file it smooth) and thke a little blob of green stuff about the size of a pea and then kinda stick it on his head and shape it with your fingers/toothpick/sculpting tool untill it takes the shape of the beret. when your done take a brush and wet it then brush it over the green stuff(while its still not dry) to make it smooth.

you could use some heads from the officers out of the Tamiya "WWII German Infantry Set" for the berets.

i am currently doing berets for all my sarges and veterans and officers...its easy enough.... use either the sarg heads from the cadian sprue or any bare heads like thos on thecatachans or even some fantasy sprues.... now take a small ball of gree stuff and place it ontop of the head, gently press down on the top and roll your finger to one side using a little pressure as you go. once you have a roygh beret shap use a sculpting tool ot knife to create a small band from just above the models right eye all the way around to the same place on the back...for added realism, use the rounded end of a file (not the file end) and make a couple of indentations on top left side of the models head...this creates the small ripples from where the beret is pulled across.
the end result should have a flat band with a few indentations on one side of the head and a flap of beret that comes down the other to about level with the eyes or just above the ear.

For gas masks, look at the steel legion for reference, just make a mask going over most of the face with a nozzle going from the end into some sort of rebreather. Leave the eyes and maybe a bit of the top of the nose out.

Ghostwalker any pics on that? I trying to sculpt berets for quite some time now, but all tries failed... Gasmasks: don't forget to cover the eyes. a humans eyes are too sensetive to be exposed to any sort of gas and there are also gases that attack over the skin (mustar gas also works over skin contact if I remember correctly) and in 38000 years they should have developed some really unfair gases to attack with
