Very nice beginnings! Be sure to keep us updated with conversions. I'm not much of a converter myself but I like watching what people can do!

very nice conversions, I'm personally a fan of 'stock' heavy weapons (though I leave those big bulky shields off because no guardsman in his right mind would want to pack those around as well as a huge a$$ gun AND its ammo!

I tend to make sure I use EVERYTHING on the sprue in building models, but when it comes to conversions, special troops and armour only. I'm lazy ;D

very nice conversion falcon, i love converting, in fact its all ive done for my army so far, havent even got around to painting cos i keep finding new things ot convert/modify slightly just to give a different character and personal touch. Also gotta say that your highlighting looks really good man, wish i could do that. And with the size of that ammo crate, that heavy bolter isn't ever going to run out of ammo lol

Thanks for your positive feedback guys! Larkin dont fall too far behind in painting its sucks looking at the army of primed men! Yah the highlights ,i do a normal high light on most of the edges and then an extreme highlight of GW goblin green on my HW and vehicles only. dont over do it with the extreme highlights it might be a bit much. good luck catching up on your painting!

i was talking to a guy in my local GW yesterday, and he kindly pointed out you can make 9 HW teans from one box.
i've got 6 so far (3 mortars, 3 lascannons) but i dont have enough spare torsos in my bits of box to make up the launchers.

could always just take normal troops and use them as well with all the spare heavy weapons.. am converting all my heavy weapons into single models.. missle launchers + 1 guardsman to follow him.. mortor on its own base + 2 guardsmen to crew it.. autocannons - they got swipped and are going to be put to use on sentinals lascannons will be on their own base + 2 basic guardsmen to crew it.. not a lot of mini dioramas for the HW teams but can be a lot more versitile with my army and field all HW teams or none and still only need so many models.. hope this provides ideas to others as well..

I think GW made a ruling about that, the HWs need to be on the same base to save confusion or something like that, I wasn't allowed to field my Lascannon that is set up like that in my current Tournament, so I don't know.

the ruling for tournaments regarding basing is that models may be based on the bases used 'stock' for that unit type (like medium ones for terminators for example) OR any base of >larger< size but not a base of smaller size. this is only for rules lawyer tournaments however and in a friendly venue you should feel free to do whatever you want/like the most - afterall the armageddon steel legion missile launcher models are on small bases with a separately based loader on second regular small base. according to GWs rule you'd have to do some clipping and find a way to aquire a big base to put them on if you wanted them to be 'legal' so really I'd recommend just going with what you want unless you know for sure that you'll be making the army specifically for tournament play.

That has to be complete Lies
I have 2 HW Squads [Missile Launchers] And they are Freeroaming, One with the missile launcher and one with the missile, but they are both on seprate bases.

it is actually no lie, but heavy weapon crews are a bit different, it says that they're 2 different models, based together for convenience - this means you can always base them individually, so that's the 'minimum base size.' putting them on a large heavy weapon crew base is just using that 'larger bases are ok' option. odd but true.

I normally don't use the large bases for my HW teams or only for one weapon and the gunner, while the loader is on a small base. It's better for moving and placing the units in terrain and as I don't play on tournaments...

I'd recommend putting the crew members on small bases, and then glueing the small bases to the large one for purposes of Templates (i.e. 2" apart)

If I was entering in a Tournament, Ill just get a HW Box set and razzle up my Missile Launchers again, but I like my Missile Launcher and Loader seprate.
