Ok guys, I need you (as always!!) for some painting advice. I want to paint all my guns like real weapons (like M16, or FAMAS, or SA80...), you see??No?? well, what I want is that metal should be the darker as possible, almost black...I'm not sure how to represent this... - all black weapons, playing on highlightments - boltgun metal and then ink.. I 'd like you to give me a good idea as I know there are always very good painters!!! artists? why not!!

I drybrush my weapons with boltgunmetal. Look at the result on the pics at "21st Volksburg Battlegroup".

saw a trick on a webpage when looking NMM ideas.. take/find a picture online of the item that you want to copy.. in this case the M16 or whatever.. open the picture in photoshop/paintshop/paint/GIMP whatever.. then zoom in and find out the colors in it.. then just try to copy that complete with the colors on it.. might be browns/greys/blacks/etc.. thats where u get to experiment.. not exactly what you were asking for i know but might push you into a proper direction though.. i hope

kyron noted a very good idea - black primer with a light boltgun metal drybrush to pick out the highlights works good for realistic dark colored weapons

Kyron's idea is very good!!! I've tried on some of my models, it looks nice.
Thanks!!! Griz, what I wanted is a dark effect on the metal parts of weapons and the body in black. I need a 'low vision" army fitting with its role (infiltrators)

Iwould think that black on the weapon furniture and then maybe boltgun metal with a heavy blue or black inkwash on the metal might give you the effect you are looking for.
