Well you have inspired me to start a fleet. (Imperial) Had a game friday against nids proved, er interesting. One ship went "MWOP!" (Opposite of BOOM!) and took 20 escorts with it.

Heh. I still haven't worked up the courage to open my box of BFG stuff that was packed away when I moved. I'm anticipating mass breakage...

Warhammer 40,000 and Star Trek, 2 of my favourite things . Hmmmm why don't they do a Star Trek BFG type...thing....that would be so cool! Anywho glad to see this thread still lives in some form at least. I'm sorry for the lack of updates, college has taken over and practical loss of job now means I have no money to buy anything . I've been idle on all of my projects but hopefully things will pick up, so again keep an eye out. Daniel Its called "Star Fleet Battles" and its an amazing game, but a card counters set up, there was a few models but never saw them. it is a highly addictive game, it was on the PC as "Star Fleet Command" which was nowhere near as good as the board game. the rulebook is what the 40k book should be, and the way the expansions tie in is the way the codexes should. I.e its actually been thought about for more than a few minutes. the rulebook I have occupies five A4 ring binders, though two of them are just the ship details, of that there is maybe 16 or so pages of "fluff", a few hundred scenarios some more fluffy than others and a lot of rules, but written to make enough logical sense you don't need the book to play once you have the basic concepts. Oh and they have a strategic version, several hundred counters, estimated set up time 4hrs+, four player game, takes about six days to play apparently... very very nice campaign system but you'd need to be an accountant to love it.

Btw, only played BFG once, used to have "Space Fleet" though, loved the figures for that, not sold on the newer style ones but the way these are painted is very nice.

I love that people are still talking about BFG.
I've got some painted BFG to share as well if anybody wants to see them. I'll start another pic thread if so.

Actually, yeti, if cosmiccastaway wouldn't mind, I'd say post your pictures in this thread, which is where I plan on posting them once I get things unpacked/repaired and photographed, so we can have concentrated BFG goodness...

I would call this just a "BFG thread" since I have a lot of chaos to show too ;D. Since Cosmic posted a great start to his BFG fleet here and I have played the game recently enough to have updated my own fleet with about 5 more cruisers I figured I could share too. I have a large 4x4 BFG board that I painted with latex and spray paints. Some of the spray paint I used is fluorescent and glows under backlight. Some of my earlier ships have detergent on the viewports/windows so they glowed as well. The celestial phenomena are fluorescent too. Games were fun that way but we usually ended up with a headache from playing in the half light. Here’s a shot of the Acheron Class on the board w/o blacklight: And the Acheron with blacklight: I have the start of an Imperial fleet, fluffily supporting my Valhallan 554th Regiment in 40K. I have an Emperor on the paint table as well as a few cruisers. Here’s an action shot of the Imperial paint scheme: I also have a large Nurgle-dedicated Chaos Fleet with Typhus at the helm. This fleet directly supports my Nurgle Space Marine forces in 40K. I recently got the Terminus Est as a proper flagship for Typhus but haven’t painted it yet. Group shot of Typhus’ warfleet: The Devastation Class Cruiser, Anubus: Detail of Carnage Class Cruisers Hades Class Heavy Cruiser, Ogremoch: More pics soon! Best, Yeti

Up next: My Daemonship, The Death Toll. For this ship I used a cruiser kit, some of the metal bitz from the kit, a 40K Nurgling, some Fabius Bile backpack vents, a bell from the Zombie kit, Chaos spikes from the vehicle kit and a lot of greenstuff/sculpting. here's the fluff I made for it. The Death Toll haunts sectors ahead of Typhus' arrival. The daemon ship drops into low orbit, powering down into the atmosphere. When the plague-encrusted bell hits air it starts ringing as the daemonship skips atop the air mass, like a flat stone over water. The impossibly loud ringing can be heard pealing across the continent below, building-sized flakes of virulent, burning cinders seed the air currents with plague spore while Death Toll gleefully skims over the surface of a doomed world like a plague fly on a corpse's eye. BFG is such a great game. I hope my club can be enticed to pick it up and bridge it to a sub-sector campaign that works with 40k. Looking forward to posting more and seeing what everybody else has. Here's my BFG fleet, the "Zion Expeditionary Fleet": Real nice work there G.L. They have a classy and clean Imperial look which works well in that scale. I would consider it an honor to be blown up by them. Best, Yeti

Well I hereby claim that I am in fact, Jesus. And so, I resurrect this thread! Ello ello . I ordered some more ships yesterday and I decided I'd like to do more with this fleet. Whilst I'm waiting for the ships to arrive I decided to rummage around in my bitzbox as usual and dug out some spare side panels for the larger ships. With some super glue and some other small bits I came up with this little transport... It's no perfect but on a small scale the gaps won't be that noticeable. It's currently being painted so more pics later! Cosmic PS. @trooper, please do! EDITHe blends in well I think

I may get to play BFG (borrowing from my friends since I still haven't unpacked my fleets) this weekend if I'm able to go up to Maryland to play with my gaming group...

Very groovy transport conversion Cosmic! I keep getting drawn to the BFG range on the GW website... think I may have to surrender to the urges and get me some more stuff... oh and close-ups... er... I will get round to it - honest. But the camera is dead at the moment... EDIT: Found some pictures on the 'puter... not sure how they got there, but I don't think I've uploaded them anywhere... The Emperor Class Battleship "Orinoco": Tyrant Class Cruiser "Tower of Babel": Dominator Class Cruiser "Spear of Light": Gothic Class Cuiser "Hammer of Zion": Sword Class Frigates "Storm Squadron": Sword Class Frigates "Blade Squadron": Firestorm Class Frigates "Ice Squadron": Cobra Class Destroyers "Stalkers": So... slightly better pictures
