I m wondering what u guys using as a mount of Rough Riders?
I dont like their orginal mounts, and i checked some alternative figures. and saw that some fantasy horses belongs to Empire are more good.
Indeed i want motorbikes, but SM bikes kinda bit expensive and big, i will check around for similar size of bikes. maybe if i m lucky i will find harley davidson models at actual size : )

I'm not a big fan of the persian looking models either. The models are ok I guess, but they certainly wouldn't fit my army.
There are a few good options you can go for. If you check the gamesworkshop website there is a section to make ur own scramble style bikes that look really good. They use a lot of different pieces to make them, so look like they'd be an expensive (but awesome looking) investment.
Forge work do a really cool desert RR on a massive dinosaur looking thing. They look cool, but again are pretty expensive, and have desert doods on em.
Leaving you with building your own. Depending on what sort of steeds you want, there are 2 good, easy options. Empire horses, or Dark elf cold ones. Depending whether you want horses or alien steeds. I toyed with the idea of using some kind of nid, but dropped the idea. I'm on the look out for some sort of dinosaurs or aliens to use for mine.
What ever u do, check out the bikes on the GW website, it's well worth a look.

The idea of making bikes instead of horses is nice!! You may look for miniatures bikes (not GW, they are too big) to have descent IG bikes. I'm thinking about the new imperial mechanical horse for warhammer battle...may be interesting... See you

someone once mentioned a couple bike wheels with a sentinel cab in between em and a lance coming off the side aimed forward.
just a thought.
that mechanical horse from warhammer fantasy battle is a thought too!
the dirt bikes are every guardsmans dream heh. soooo expensive for all those parts!!

Dirt bikes would be fantastic! I should look for other miniature creators that make dirt bikes in scale.

SM Scoutbikes using the top part of a cadain. Keep the bottom half of the Scout. Easy way but little pricy at at 45 dollars for 3 bikes.

I have been converting mechanical steeds with Tombking skeleton riders and heavy weapon platoon models, and green stuffing wires, some bolts, etc. The legs from heavy weapons work out good because the are kneeled and all you have to do is cut them just above the knee and do a little green stuffing to cleen up the joint to get the right leg positons.

Forge world have just produced some very nice death corps of krieg rough riders. They're not on the FW website yet but I managed to get hold of an image. What do you think? Nice eh?

Wow!!!! They do look very cool. I also used the Easter weekend to start making Rough Riders. The cold ones look wicked, but I went for horses in the end and used the Empire pistolers for the horses. uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99120202019&orignav=13Will try to get some pic.s posted when I can. They work really well and are v easy to do. the horses and riders legs are all reasonable to use with little or no conversions (I just trimmed off a couple of spurs that looked a bit too uch like plate armour). Then use Cadian bodies and a mix of arms to get what ever you want for positions. If you want horses instead of monsters/aliens, then that box is pretty good.

Yeah those horses should do the trick, a friend of mine that is about to embark on a RR conversion talked about using horses too, I checked around the GW webshop and found that the Kislev Horse Archers had quite good looking horses and adviced him to use them. I would have use horses to but I got the impression that horses would be scared to death in an urban fighting zone and if not they would break their legs running around dead bodies and craters and debris and such hehe. Figured that some lizard steed with muscular legs could climb around debris and run real fast so I went for Cold Ones. A slight inspiration was the Deserst Stormtroopers from Star Wars Episode IV: A new Hope where they ride lizard mounts around the crashed pod on Tatoonie.

the problem with using the LoTR models is thay are slightly smaller than the 40k range.I was going to use the Rohirum models as my cav. but then i stood some next to my others and they are just slightly smaller and don't look right

i used the lotr models for my rough riders...lol yeah they are a bit out of place but i just thought that they were the cheapest to buy and ive got 20 rough riders right now...but like my opinion is that at least they look like rough riders and it fits my fluff of an all out infantry company
