I wanted to make some Shoota Boyz in a truk and make sure they were unique enough I could tell them from the rest of the Horde once deployed. I have lots of 1/35th left over bits including a bag of German helmets and gear like canteens and ammo pouches. I have glued these on Ogryns and such before and tried it with an ork and after trimming the ears a bit, it looked fine. (I want to say at this point I have NO sympathy for Nazis nor do I wish to glorify them in any way. I got this idea while watching them being gunned down in "Inglorious Basterds". I do not think recreating a specific army look means you agree with the army's political leanings. I have Praetorian 'umies and do not condone the Colonial practices of the 19th century United Kingdom either! And My Attillan rough riders do NOT mean I think the raping and pillaging ways of Genghis Khan were politically correct either!) Soon I had built up 11 with a Big Shootah. For the Nob I wanted something that would stand out and still fit into the style. I used green stuff to build up a uniform, and took the cap off of a toy plastic German soldier. (I now found some cool resin heads with the caps already on- DOH!) I had some German Vallejo paint left over from a commission doing WWII Germans for FOW for a customer. The helmet decals are hand painted and represent a lightning bolt and an white slash.

Looks like you've got you some Blood Axes there! The 2nd Ed Blood Axe Models actually drew very heavily on WWII German Imagery, which I think is part of why they got changed out, but I say go for it. Politics aside, the Nazis had amazing aesthetic sense, and it's undeniably powerful imagery, very well suited to Orks.
Well done on the Modeling and Painting, too. You gonna fill out the Army?

Well my Boss is a Kling-Ork (Bumpy head and all) He united a bunch of smaller tribes all with their own distinct styles. ie I am ADD and making 200 German Orks would bore me so every unit has it's own flair! Working on converting a half track to a " 'alf trak" The first one was not orky enough so it got sold to my traitor guard

There's actually a company that makes Ork and Gretchin heads, sets with both peaked caps and Stalhelms. But I can't remember what they're called, urgh... Lovely work on these in any case, especially the Boyz. The Warboss had a somewhat messy paintjob, but I know how hard it is to make metal models look good (that's why I only use one per 1000 pts).

he looks better in real life For some reason the lighting made the highlights look like blobs rather than a shaded effect. Sometimes the harsh lighting and the fact that the figure is being blown up like 7 times larger than it really is conspire to make things look a bit whacked. I took a picture of a ghoul I did the other day and the picture made him look like a smurf! He was blue! there was no blue on the figure though!

Hillarious! ;D Great job on the converting, a truely inspired idea with a great paintjob to match! WestRider: makes me think of the comedy sketch with the two guys in the trench: "Are we the bad guys?" "No" "Then why do we have skulls on our uniforms?"
