Rust

I have a Deamon hunters army (long live the emperor) and in this army I have a Land Raider Crusader. I loved the white dwarf that featured orange and showed some awsome orange rust but some friends said that rust would just look wrong because Deamon huters are kinda shiny. You must understand I don't want to go over board just enough to get and ancient look (not about to fall apart). Well getting to the point do you think I should do the rust.

I think if you were to do it.. it would have to be very little overall for it to be any good.. i mean very few places should have it and it shouldnt be too large either.. no long lines of rust dripping out of the bolts as it wouldnt have the time to get it.. you should only give a little bit and more on where it might have battle damage instead of just on bolts, corners and the like..

Hope that makes sense but your buddies are right in that the DH group is a bit anal to let it gather rust.. however you could just say that they have been on a very long campaign and this is the result of it as well..

Thanks yah, maybe afterall I wont. My friend needs to paint his Orks so I guess ill get ride of this rust fetish there. I guess grey knights were ment to be shiny.

No Space Marine would ever let get rust on a Land Raider. These things can't be produced anymore as the knowledge to produce them was lost millenias ago and the same goes for Dreadnaughts. The knowledge for building vehicles like that is lost forever and only perhaps the Iron Warriors still possess plans on how to build such weaponary, but as they're traitors...

Yeah, be careful not to go overboard on the rust, I went overboard on the battle damage on a chimera, doesnt look pretty.
