Hardened Veterans (2)

I didn't want to hi-jack the previous thread about the Hardened Veterans but I really wanted to show some of my own design, inspired by the "trenchers" i had seen circulating on the internet. I made a full squad including a "twin linked heavy stubber", but since i dont have the most recent Imperial Armour to check out the rules i mainly use it as a "tarantula" or if kept within the squad as a regular heavy bolter. Enjoy.

I used Brettonian Men at Arms mixed with cadian parts and greenstuff to make these:

And the full squad assembled and then painted.

Thanks, I think they came out ok, they were fun to do and to paint. But more then one squad would have been a pain in the butt to create. Speaking of the Sgt, I don't know if that's just me but i think his face has a resemblance to Conan O'Brien when viewed from certain angles I allways try to save the vehicle crew bits from the leman russ/chimera tanks and use the captains hat wearing hats for my Sgt's.

Dude! I love them, im a real trench warfare fan when it comes to modelling IG, i think its their calling. one small criticism though if you'll permit me... there too clean! dirty em up, make em muddy and lookin like they've fought a real hard war of attrition and i'll think that'll just top em off.

yeah but if you dirty em up too much they look like they might as well take their uniforms off and throw em away and run round nude!

I could dirty them up but I quite like the somewhat clean look, imagine it's their first day in the trench or something

Or maybe because they are "hardened veterans" and have been around for so long they know just how to avoid those great puddles of dirt lol

lol, hey if it fits the fluff then go for it man, they're your guard, it'd be wrong for one commander to tell another how to run his unit. maybe ill just dirty mine up then lol. congrads again dude on some fine conversions

i like the clean look to as i think dirtyin em up makes em look a bit shabby
but like Larks sez, if a colonel told another how to run his unit, like Zyhte and Gaunt in Guns of Tanith, then hed feel a commissars bolt pistol on the back of his head lol

Thanks for all the kind comments, i am yet to build a 6 man Special Weapons squad with the remaining 6 models i have, good thing they arn't made yet since i planned giving them grenade launchers but i might aswell give them all meltaguns and then switch my grenade launchers from the veteran squad with the meltas from the special wepons squad. I rather have 3 BS4 meltaguns then 3 BS3 grenade launcher hehe

I will see how it will end though since I am still up to my knees in different projects like the rough riders and repainting my armoured units.
