having located some classic cit minis in plastic i decided to strip the paint using white spirit and a water bath this works well how ever its a risky buisness as the plastic mini can become soft and distorted so my question is has any one found a safe way of removing old paint from plastic cit minis without damaging them.

hmm the last time i used mineral terpentine and left it to soak overnight the plastic went all gooey and melted but what my friend did was get a toothbrush and scrub the miniature with a toothbrush with terps on it hope that helps

Car Brake fluid and a stiff tooth brush.
Scrape some of the paint off with a knife then leave them to soak over night. Then brush them down with a stiff tooth brush.
You may need to repeat this several times but I've found it's the best way of removing paint off plastic figures.

You don't need to worry about them distorting in brake fluid.
I've just found some that I put in a jar of brake fuild about 2 years ago and they're still fine.

Nail polish remover works pretty good too, not too corrosive.
Ask ur GF, Mom, what ever if you can try it out, then buy some if you like it. Pretty cheap.

I too have friends that recomend using car break fluid but its so sloppy and not everyone has access to it but appearently it works. The nail polish remover is what I've been told is the best way to remove paint. Let the models soak in a bath of nail polish remover and use a toothbrush to remove the paint. But I would only reccomend this method for metal minis, stick to the car break fluid for the plastics.
Talking about the nail polish remover, in Sweden at least we have something called Aceton and its a little white bottle with a red label dont know if you have it in your country?

Alchohol can work if the paint isnt to thick on the model and you clean them in the alchohol with a toothbrush if you clean them out of the alchohol clean them in a bowl of water or something. It works but not if you are clearing models with flat/or glossy clear coates. I let mine soak for a week and worked pretty good. I wouldn't use it for metal minis. Simple green works good for metal minis not sure about plastics though. My friend did one, im not sure how it worked out though.

I`ve found rubbing paint off with nail polish remover on cotton wool works well, on tanks at least.
