My advice would be to get a real, dual action airbrush and a compressor if you plan on doing lots of spray type applications. Canned air is expensive, and can be fussy to work with, as pointed out above.
I've found that diluting the regular Citadel paints 50-70% with water thins them out well enough to work in an airbrush. I don't know about the Foundation paints though, as I haven't used them with my airbrush yet...

Quite an ambitious task; but I think, judging by the results, that it will be well worth it when all of it comes together.

I've heard varying things about the Azteks. I have a Pasche airbrush, and a friend of mine outright gave me his Badger airbrush which he doesn't use anymore. I haven't tried it yet, mainly because I haven't gotten my airbrush setup put back together after moving. However, if you've got bulk painting to do--whether it be a horde of infantry that you need to basecoat, or squadrons of vehicles--an airbrush can really speed things up.

I would echo Troopers advice - the GW spray will cost you much more over time than a decent compressor and spray gun.. and the GW one is rubbish when compared to a decent airbrush! Also.. Trooper - I will one day get round to painting the bases on all my models!! its just such a daunting task (there are bucket loads of models to do!).. and here's a little update on some new additions to the company - to assist with mobility:

Okay.. I'm dreading this slightly but have come to the conclusion I need to do more on these guys...
I'm liking the high contrast on the Storm Raven, so am planning on painitng the guns with a heavyish black wash and adding flame effects to my melta / flamers... I may even get the time to make the power weapons interesting.
My motivation is coming from the fact they will be participating in an apoc game and I really want them to look good in the pictures!
I have already done their bases so they'e begining to look a bit better already.. one of the reasons I haven't done any details etc is because I was still considering more white highlights.. this has meant they sit on the shelf for ages and very occassionally all get another thin coat of white.. I figure it is now time to turn them from models of statues into models of war torn veterans of the grim dark future.
another resaon I haven't done anything is that I'm really indecisive, and can't work out what colours to use where etc... but enough folly.. time to act!

Is there a particluar reason as to why you're leaving all of the details out and making them look like stone statues?

he he..
Cosmic: "Is there a particluar reason" ... yes..
in fact there are 3 reasons:
I am not adding all the details to one model as I like to apply one effect 'en masse' so I will give all the models black trim before I then look at the next detail I could give them. (eg: skin, red wax seals etc).
I also am still weighing up whether to continue highlighting them with dry-brushes of white - If I do then this would obscure any of the details painted previously (though the chances of me doing this are getting less and less).
I am also very nervous of making a mistake, so am procrastinating a lot!
plus.. when they are on the table they actually look okay (I'd rather have 100 painted the same than 5 painted properly and 95 unpainted),
oh, and the marines only come of the shelf maybe 4 times a year.
I am getting there though!

I just can't paint that way. I have to spend about an hour on each mini.

First up... I'm compiling a few images of the Templars so far: Storm Shields: Thunder Hammers: Lightning Claws: Chaplians and Librarians: Okay.. now that thats out the way... .. I finally got to painting the next stage on some of them.. First up is my White Templar 'True Grit' Assault Marine from SpaceMarine by THQ (rip). I still need to do the parchment in a papery colour with red wax seals, and probably either red, orange or lightning blue eyes. This looks to be the way that I'm going to do the rest of the army, I have found a whole load of Templar transfers (around 150 odd) so will be putting the black cross on the shoulderpads. I need to order some micro sol first though. Next up: White Templar Ironclad Dreadnought Now for my White Templar Storm Talons: can you spot the subtle Conversion work on the White Templar StormTalons ? (answers below) Answer.... Conversion work has been around the assault cannon chin mount and upgrading the Heavy Bolters to Twin Linked (not standard codex option, but then Templars aren't currently allowed Stormtalons or Stormravens anyway). Here's my White Templar Storm Wing in all its glory: I'm really aware of the need to put black onto the crosses on the Storm Shields and the StormRaven / StormEagle. I also have a little quandary regarding the Storm Raven / Eagle, I modeled it as a Raven prior to the FW Eagle rules coming out, so it has a full compliment of Raven wargear but looks more like the Eagle.. my feeling is that it would be fair to give it transport capacity 20 but no dreadnoughts and keep the raven wargear. (thus, transport 20, 2 typhoon missile launchers, pair of hurricane bolters, twin linked heavy bolter, twin linked assault cannon, and some blood strike missiles for 270). Finally... the My White Templar Company (probably 1st Company as I have a Chapter Master with Honour Guard) I'll get round to taking a decent photo of the Company soon, where you'll be able to see the separate squads, Its just finding a time with enough daylight when my little lad isn't around and likely to 'boom bash' them all over the place.
