Slightly off topic, but given the weather I can't prime anything else so been playing with my WHFB stuff. Tried to take pics without the flash, but just got a blur during daylight. Need to play with the camera more often and work out what the buttons do. Your orks are looking great so far. I always liked the model of the wyvern and it is nice to see it not in green A nice verity, indeed. When I saw the new boar riders and the new river trolls, I was very tempted to start a “small” (LOTS of gobbos) army myself. The miniatures are great! The silver looks a little flat, especially the chain mail of the lords and heros. It could be due to the camera (you said that you had some problems). If it is not the camera, may I suggest using slightly watered down Badab Black and/or Devlan Mud? The washes are great and do a fantastic job without too much effort. If it turns out too dark for your taste, a simple dry brush with Boltgun Metal will complete a nice looking metal. Seeing all this tempts me to lay my guard models aside to finish the rest of Empire army reinforcements … I hope will see more of your Waaaagh! Now go and kill da umis ;D -Magg

Metal is bolt gun metal over black, with a black wash and no highlighting, looks better in reality, i like the "dull" finish, Don't like shiny metal on orcs... and not a fan of the "super rusty" finish either.
Don't like green Wyverns, the rest of the army is green enough, ironically started out in these colours as a tester for a Tyranid scheme, which may see the light of day eventually.
There are a lot of goblins as well, but not very well painted, or unpainted, slowly doing them in the same style as these buggers.
Got Boar riders on order, can't stand the river trolls though, models are ok but the rules are pants.
Will have to work with the camera a bit more, this is a k800i, works ok but the flash is a bit powerful, standing further back and cropping ends up too blurred. I've got an old polaroid digital as well but with the flash you get a seriously whited out effect (it lacks a macro mode), and in daylight its too harsh. Probably need a better camera, as well as a better operator, was ok for model railway pics where the somewhat dark result was atmospheric.
Leave the dirty down cheating empire alone, stick with the guards... fewer empire bods about the better these guys will do (they have one one game in a year, and that was pure luck)

I thought that it has to be the pictures, because the weapons of da boyz do not look too shiny. My bad I love gobbos. Especially night gobbos, although I think that the old models looked better. The facial expression of the new ones is almost too mean. The old ones looked more like little rascals (mean rascals, but rascals nevertheless ). Got Boar riders on order, can't stand the river trolls though, models are ok but the rules are pants. I know what you mean! Ld 4 and stupidity sucks, but I field a lot of units because I like the models, regardless how bad the rules are. A boss on boar would correct this problem and would also increase the close combat potential. Maybe trolls will get a better Ld in the new army book. As far as I know Orks and Goblins will get a new one soon. I never use the flash, because it washes out the colours. You should use other light sources. Most advantageous would be at least two daylight bulbs to illuminate the models you want to photograph. Two normal desk lamps will be also enough (although they may create a yellowish dye). Place them in front of the model, one on each side (and maybe one to the rear). All should be positioned above and angled in towards the miniature. This way you will reduce shadows that would create a strong contrast. For the background I recommend a white or light blueish cloth or sheet of paper. They prevent disturbing reflections that my alter the colours. Cheers! -Magg
