I have one platoon painted in Cadia colors , another one in urban camo and finally a veteran squad in an arctic pattern. Moreover, the Company command squad, hte Leman Russ and the Valkyrie are Cadian pattern. What possible fluff could justify that? I was thinking of a world similar to Mordia, where half of the planet was dark (maybe caused by a Necron Nightbringer ?), with ruins of an ancient city, where platoon 1 would fight, and the other like Cadia, justifying platoon 2's colours... Finally, the veteran squad would come from a destroyed planet that had reassigned it's soldiers to different regiments. Any better suggestions or comments? (especially about why the company command squad and the tank are painted Cadia-style!)

Maybe the arctic and urban could come from the same world, with the veterans being arctic rangers or something? They all went arround for a while till some massacre when all their armour and command staff were wiped out and they were absorbed into the cadian guys. You could have the vets being the heroes who led the others to safety or something.
Give them one of those double numbers, like 6th/216th style to show its a merged regiment. Thinking about your night idea, you could have an urban planet which stopped rotating for some reason. The veterans would have changed to ice colours as the dark side froze and rescued the other platoon who were to stupid to change their camo (well maybe not stupid, fighting for their lives would be better).

Make them a Cadian regiment who was combined with the remains of another regiment who fought in an Arctic world. Like Trickstick said naming them something like 2nd/3rd "Insert Reg. name here" completely justifies this.
Also naming the regiment will depend on your Cadian's primary role. Are they mobile infantry (chimeras), Air cav (Valks/Vens) or footsloggers (this one is basically limitless). For example, I had an idea a while ago to write a Veterans list based on Vietnam with Valks/Vens instead of choppers. The fluff behind it was that this used to be a normal jungle warfare regiment (whoes numbers had dropped drastically, leaving only highly experienced and skilled troopers) who were combined with the air support of a drop troop company, whoes drop troops had all been killed. They became th 12th/42nd Jungle Drop Troop, experts in air mobile jungle warfare.
Hope that helps SaN

Maybe they just didn't have enough uniforms for everyone to get the same one. Or they've been bouncing from war to war and battle to battle without a chance to refit completely. Or they're fighting in an area where any of those color schemes would work (a snowed-in city, say) and its just the officers' / troopers' personal choice.

Munitorum sent the wrong outfits. And they're also all XXL so none of them fit.

I'd just go with the idea of a "crusade army" theme, or as suggested above, simply have them as two combined regiments that have been battered. I have a similar link in my army - Yellow Platoon (4th platoon) are Steel Legion models - the fluff is that they were the absorbed by my Zion Rifles after a certain engagement (which will be detailed in time... wouldn't want to spoil any plot lines ). They do wear the same colour fatigues though now...

I'm looking at a "Task Force" Specialized elements veteran drawn from across the board to support the vanilla sloggers.

I like fianoglach's idea Imperial forces are broken up in their role and then recombined on the field to prevent too much power going to one commander.

Munitorum sent the wrong outfits. And they're also all XXL so none of them fit. Remember that in the Guard there are only two sizes for clothing, boots, and equipment: too large and too small. Personally, I'd go with the amalgamated regiments approach and call them the Xth/Yth "Insert home planet name" Regiment.

I actually run each Platoon with a different color scheme. Their weapons and equipment are painted the same, but their uniforms and armour are different. This denotes that it is a Task Force made up from other units for a specific mission. Variety is one of the things that makes this hobby what it is. Embrace your creative side and crush your enemies.
