The Suburbian System is located in the Segmentum Pacificus and has only one habitable planet; Suburbia Prime
Suburbia Prime has been a long loyal planet to the Imperium of Man, never once showing any major signs of heresy or discontentment with its position.
During the Great Crusade, it peacefully transitioned into the growing Imperium and, with its Hives and fairly large population, supplied many forces to the Imperial Army.
When the Horus Heresy began, Suburbia immediatly swore allegiance to the Emperor and only the Emporer and continued to supply regiments of infantry to fight back their chaotic-counterparts.
After the end of the Heresy, armies of Suburbian infantry were at the forefront of the reconquest of the Segmentum Pacificus fighting alongside their allies, the Adeptus Astartes still loyal to the Imperium and not in retreat to the Eye of Terror.
The current age of the Imperium has Suburbia drastically grown into a Hive World with a proud, if unpopular with the general populace, military tradition.
The People of Suburbia
The total population of Suburbia is approximetly 50 billion. Due to being a Hive World, there are no set generalizations on physical features of its people.
The only true divisions are those of class, of which there are three;
-The ruling upper class, made up of politicians, rich merchants, and aristocratic Nobles of proud and successful military heritage. This is the only class that truly supports the Imperial Guard and it is the source of all Regimental Officers of Suburbian Regiments. It is the minority of the populace, taking up only about 500 million people.
-The civil class, made up of the commen people who live fairly decent lives and enjoy a high standard of living in comparison with other Hive Worlds. For example, the commen family consist of a husband,wife, and four children living in three-bedroom apartments with their own plumbing and washrooms. The Civil Class also forms the bulk of the workers who labour in the factoriums and steel mills. Its sentiment of the military is quite low, with only about 46% of the Civil population supporting it. Even though support of it low, most of the planets soldiers come from this class during times of peace throughout the region. The Civil Class makes up the majority of the planets populationwith about 27.5 billion people.
-The Under Class. It consist of poor families and individuals living in tenaments and single-habs in the most run-down hive districts. While most are employed, their income fuels the blackmarket active on the planet. Most of the Under Class tend to be of three distinct sub groups;
-The Gangers, the name says it all. This group controls most of the UnderHives and divides them between each gang. They are very unruly and it is not uncommen for them to attack the Arbite patrols who come around every once in awhile.
-The Shunned, a mass group of so-called "punks" and rebels who are stereotyped as border-line heretics. They tend to come from all sorts of backgrounds and are seen very rarely alone, usually coming in groups of ten or more and they tend to stick to commerce centers to loiter the days away.
-The Lost, people addicted to the "home-drug" of Suburbia, "Lose it" or "Lose". The drug is very addictive and quickly destroys most brain cells leaving only three basic actions registering to the individual; Work, use money to buy and then use "Lose", and eating. The drug is used by a majority of the Under Class and is responsible for the stereotypes applied to all Under Classers.
The Under Class has a "zero-opinion" of the Imperial Military (i.e. they dont care). During times of crises in the region, Conscript armies are forged almost over night by mass-Arbite raids into the UnderHive and abduction of anyone deemed suited for combat (i.e. anyone they can get their hands on). Those who resist are executed, methods of execution vary with the situation.
The Under Class forms another minority of the planet, though it is signifigantly larger than the upper-class and is only slightly smaller than the Civil Class,consisting of 22 billion people.
Economy
Most of the Suburbian economy revolves around the Steel and Plasteel Industries.
Suburbia has massive iron ore deposits across its entire surface. The Iron is extracted by huge mobile Extraction-plants that move from place to place and take the iron to the purification plants where it is turned into Steel. The Steel is then sent to Steel Mills where it is shaped and sent away to depots to be bought. Most of the Steel is turned into plasteel and sent offworld to supply other planets. What remains, along with whatever is shipped in from other worlds, is then sent to Factoriums to make goods for distribution and sale throughout the planet.
Suburbia itself retains a very minimal war-industry and does not produce its own weapons,ammo, vehicles, etc.. Its Regiments are supplied with equipment from other worlds who make war-goods based on the Cadian Pattern with slight variations. During times of extreme crises (such as the Horus Heresy), its Factoriums are forced to manufacture items of war.
Trade is very important to the planets economy and, while most of its home-made goods are made for its own populace, it sends huge amounts of peacetime civilian goods abroad and through heavy import/export taxes it makes a healthy profit.
