Hey everyone Col. Hawkrin here again with another project. useing the templates found at this address>http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/bwc-archive/
You have to join to gain access to them but they are amazing.
Anyway as you know this is a tutorial to build a Malcador from scratch using cardboard, cereal box card and some ingenuity.
I am building it to be a "count as" for regular Leman russ Demolisher. But Fluff-wise it will be a mobile command center for my army.
I will post updates as they become available.

the rules for the Malcador are online at www.forgeworld.co.uk. fluff-wise, the Malcador is an unbearably cramped back-up tank that's too old to be of any real use. If you want a command tank, build yourself a command baneblade. or! Build a leviathan! It's probably much easier than a Malcador.

Could always scale up the Malcador a bit and then it wont be so cramped. Would explain why it's the mobile command center because its quite a unique variant of the Malcador. Just a thought.

And a good one at that! I've always thought the Malcador looks like a Command vehicle, what with the distictive sillouette, high turret, etc.

Malcadors armour is awful. Look at the trialrules! front armour 13. 13! What heresy is this! Which lunatic designed a siege tank the can be nuked by two stormtroopers armed with plasmaguns! Try trundling that towards an emplacement and you'll wind up with a very large 300 point hole in the ground.
This tank is definitive proof that the Adeptus mechanicus are actively trying to get us all killed.
Fix bayonets!

Now I noticed that everyone was bashing my Malcador tank, so me being the open minded Son of a B**ch that I am decided to put you all to the test. This is what I did.
I added it to my army list and then built it. (I'll post pics soon) I fought against my friend using the experimental rules and the tank lasted till turn five, which was good but then disaster struck.
It died... to 1 genestealer... I was so f***ing mad. Of course my friend laughed at me and thought it was funny as s**t. Now I am mad and have decided to use the VDR rules to build a better tank using the Malcador chassis.
One with better armour and better guns. It will be pretty expensive but hey... its a command tank for crying out loud.

Yes, tis sadly true. Forgeworld don't seem to get the art of building hyper-beardy tanks. VDR is much better. Mr Hawkrin, i would advise you use the Macharius instead. it has the capability to murderise an entire tactical/assault/devestator squad. A turn. And itonly costs 50pts more than the malcador. But kudos for sticking with it.
GLORY TO THE REVOLUTION!

Its all personal preference. I tend to like the malcador as I think it looks good, it's a tank and I have an unhealthy love for the heavy bolter. So I think it might be something I buy even if I should probably buy something else... like food.

well maybe thats a slight exaggeration. How about a resin toy or nice food and some lovely pints down the pub. Why cant they do lock ins at gw and the counter becomes the bar, that would be a perfect mix of pastimes. Of course everyone must drink in moderation or they might bring up extra terrain... hmm maybe it is a bad idea. I tend to let my mind wonder, apologies. Back on topic.

But kudos for the try hawkrin. Would love some pics when you get 'em.
(darkside: It seems odd to me that the malcador 'heavy tank' is a strange beast, as it has the lightest armour of any MBT produced for the guard mfglfsh (sounds of gag being fiited).

You must use the Malcador wisely, you've got to put a nice expensive and juicey unit in a stupid position so that your opponent uses all his Lascannons on that, then when it's your turn kill 'em with half a million heavy bolters.
It works even better when you get first turn because then you don't need to sacrafice the expensive unit.
Well, it's a thought.......

People, people, you're forgetting that the Malcador is really OLD. It was a big, crappy tank designed to take a hit or two before the next Malcador ran it over. It is by no means a suitable command, attack, defense, or anything tank. That's why they're mothballed in warehouses on industrial worlds. They're almost completely useless.
The malcador is, however, an excellent fluff tank for an under-equipped Planetary Defense Force.
I saw those plans, Colonel. They look good. I can't wait to see your completed one. The malcador's an awesome looking tank.
