Hey, the title says it all. Can I feasibly buy a GW Executioner turret and install it into the leman russ turret? or do I have to buy a turret too (i mean by turret is the part that twists around and has the main gun in the front and the cupola, ect). The ability to burn anything and everything looks great, and I am trying to save some cash on the side.

You want to put a turret onto a turret? I assume by the second turret you mean hull? SaN

If you talk about getting a spare Executioner turret and installing it on a Leman you allready have.. Then yes you can do that, as long as your excisting Leman is from the new range..
The turret mount rings are smaller on the new tanks, that is the (Demo/Exec/Punisher) and the (MBT/Vanq/Exter) boxes..
If you have a older Leman, then no you won't be able to fit the new executioner turret on it, without moding it quite a bit.. Forgeworld has the Ryza pattern Executioner turret thou, and that is interchangable with the old Leman Russ kit..

Yeah, sadly the turret rings on the old Leman Russ kit are completely different from the new kit. It might be possible to bash the Executioner cannon onto an old style turret. This could be fiddly though... It may be easier to find a bitz seller that is selling the new style Leman Russ turret parts and guns, and either buy a separate turret. Or you could buy the battle cannon and rear stowage bits, and magnetize the stowage bin and the gun mount inside the turret so you can swap between the battle cannon and the Executioner cannon.

Its pretty easy to cut a new disc from plasticard or even ordinary cardboard and make suitable turret fittings for any size hull old or new. Remove the unwanted turret tabs and then using a drawing compass with 2 metal points (rather that a point and a pencil) you can set it to the desired radius, score the card and pop out a perfect disc that'll fit inside the hulls turret opening. Then you just need to fix on some tabs that fit into the ones on the existing hull. Alternatively cut off all the tabs and use neo magnets on both the turret and hull to hold the turret securely in place. This'll allow it to rotate and you can switch between different turrets easily. Just remember to make sure the north and south poles of all the magnets are kept in the same orientation. I've done this on all my Ork vehicles so now I can swap Battlewagon and looted Demolisher turrets in seconds depending on the opposition. The other advantage with magnets is should you snag something during play, rather than the plastic snapping the magnets come part and save you the damage on your pride and joy. Simples! If you're interested I get mine here on ebay : shop.ebay.co.uk/spider_magnets/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25 Loads of sizes available. 50 magnets 6mm x 3mm for £3.19 free post!

Um, isn't pretty much every FW Leman Russ turret one-piece?

The Ryza Vanquisher and the Gryphonne Conqueror turrets are two pieces, the main gun and the rest of the turret. Makes it a bit easier to swap barrels for conversions.
