Opponent: HERETICS!
Before I begin the telling of this bloody battle I must make not of several issue that arose. My opponent used his vehicles illegally two times, and using and OOP codex, this gave him an advantage.
1st illegality, he moved flat out with a land raider, disembarked the berserkers, and then assaulted, this allowed them to cross the board (way, way, way too small, he demanded that we played wide (6ft) and short (30") which also gave him an advantage. As far as I could tell you can't disembark from a flat put transport, is this correct?
2nd. He did the same as above except with a rhino and a tactical squad, their consequent
shooting was not an issue however.
Now into the battle!
Our lists were around 1180 points.

There wasn't a discernible HQ choice. At all.
Bloodthirster
Land raider
Rhino (havoc launcher)
Defiler (reapers, flamer)
Two tac squads of 5 with bolters
Plasma Hbolter and melta powerfist
10 Berserkers with a number of plasma pistols
We deployed on the board, there was a little cover around and it was mostly in the no mans land between us.
I kept my Valkyrie and storms in reserve.
His daemon was also off table.
He got first turn, rolled a 6 and I rolled a 1...if I'd gone first I woulda scouted up with the valk and made him cry.
TURN 1
His first move was to advance his raider 12" and disembark his squad, I disputed this. He advanced his squads a bit, and his rhino a few inches.
In his shooting phase he fired his battle cannon at my CCS, killing two plasma gunners. His berserkers unloaded onto one of my vet squads, killing four. He used the machine spirit on his LR (not a rule in the new dex....) and it missed.
He assaulted my veterans and they got to counter attack due to stracken, but it didn't help. Only two survived and they fled, he then consolidated into a nice snakey formation.
TURN 1 IG
I moved my LMBT away from his berserkers and got my Valkyrie in from reserves. I moved it to his rear and deepstruck the storms out behind his defiler. I moved my CCS into cover and my other veteran squad moved to help my two tanks.
Shooting was poor for me even though I killed many. My storms killed 3/5 of the tac squad. My Pasquisher missed the LR at point blank...(why isn't it a small blast at least???) my LMBT killed 7 berserkers with all it's guns. My CCS killed 4 marines and my sentinel missed, leaving just the power fist. My veteran squad was ordered to FRFSRF but I rolled 6 6 on the order....yay! They got to fire a pair of plasmas at their target killing one berserker.
No assault.
TURN 2 chaos.
He summoned his Bloodthirster. It arrived and basically won him the game.
He didn't move anything.
Shooting,
His defiler killed 4 of my veteran squad, they held firm!
The LR managed to stun my LMBT and his plasma pistol did nothing.
The remaining tac squad tried to kill my storms and got one.
Assault.
His daemon attacked and obliterated my Pasquisher (MCs should hit the front armor I
think, they are so big and strong they could punch through and they wouldn't be able to "hit the weak spot" like an infantry man)
TURN 2 IG
I moved my CCS into striking position on the rhino.
My Valkyrie moved to fire on the rear armor of the defiler.
Shooting.
My storms killed the tac squad.
My battle tank tried to kill the LR, but couldn't.
My sentinel fired at the defiler, the shot missed.
The multi laser on my valkyrie totally misses the defiler.
Assault.
My CCS destroyed the rhino.
TURN 4 chaos.
Moving.
Daemon closes in on my LMBT
lone berserker runs around.
Shooting.
Defiler attempts to target my storms, it fails!
The LR fires at my Valk, misses.
Assault.
Daemon destroys my LMBT
TURN 3 IG
Moving.
My CCS closes in on the last berserker.
Storms move to the rear of the defiler
Sentinel moves towards the LR and daemon
Shooting.
My CCS slays the last berseker.
My storms fail to damage the defiler with the plasma they have
The Valk stuns the defiler.
The sentinel wounds the daemon.
My three remaining veterans with plasmas unload on the daemon, they roll 4 ones and one hit...the wound is saved. They all die.
Assault.
Nada.
TURN 5 chaos
Moving, the LR turns to target the Valk
The defiler turns it's turret to the storms
The daemon moves towards the CCS.
Shooting.
The defiler toasts my storms and they all die.
The LR fails to harm the Valk.
Assault.
None.
TURN 4 IG
moving.
The valk moves a bit from the defiler but is still facing it.
The CCS and sentinel advance on the daemon.
Shooting.
Rapid fire with the plasma gun produces a wound, the sentinel misses.
The Valk immobilizes the defiler.
Assault.
None
TURN 6 chaos.
Moving.
The daemon is very close to stracken.
The land raider moves to target the call better.
Shooting.
The LR misses.
Assault.
The daemon tears the sentinel to pieces.
TURN 5 IG
Moving.
My Valkyrie moves 24" towards the daemon.
Shooting.
My CCS fires at the daemon, no effect.
Assault.
My CCS attacks the daemon, and is killed.
TURN 7 chaos.
Moving. None.
Shooting. My Valk is shot down.
Assault. None.
That's it....I'm a little bitter about how he won with what I considered to be illegal and a non regulation board, but he still won..
I'll be writing up some fluff for this eventually!
Any advice/ suggestions for future battle would be greatly appreciated!
