Well, I have bit the bullet now. I've decided to convert my Leman Russ Main Battle Tank into a Demolisher, but I want to magnetize it so that I can use BOTH guns (but not at the same time... ) This way, I can save some money, and have more bang for my buck. I'll be using this piece from an Ork Lobba for my Demolisher Cannon. Its roughly the right size and shape, and covered in rivets. Perfect! I'll be cutting down the larger bolts on the side so they don't stick out as much. Here the battle cannon has been severed, and the pieces laid out. And here is the tank with the "demolisher" cannon retro-fitted onto the barrel. This is a dry fit, and I am gratified to see that if fits nearly perfectly. The real challenge, I think, it to make sure the Battle Cannon will fit.

I've made some progress on my converting of my Russ, and by progress I mean I have everything magnetized. I'm not a 100% satisfied with the look at the moment, but any comments and suggestions would be appreciated. First up is my Punisher. It looks okay, but I just realized that I only have half the mantlet. If someone can get me the bottom half, I'd appreciate it. Here's the battle cannon. I wanted to cover up where the cannon meets the tank, and used part of a plastic cabinet knob, which fit perfectly!. It may show up better when its painted. Finally, the Demolisher cannon. Its still not great, but its also held together with strong earth magnets. I am stuck on a mantlet for this gun, but I have some ideas.

Hmmm... If you got to ApocabitzNow.com use their e-mail contact, they may be able to get the lower part of the Punisher mantlet for you. They currently don't have it listed as an individual bit for sale, but I've had good luck in the past with them when I nicely asked if they could provide a bit for me that they didn't have listed in their selection. Alternatively, you could try converting the Punisher cannon to fit into the standard battle cannon mounting. I think I have an example of such a conversion I did to fit the Punisher into an old style LR turret posted in the tanks board under the thread titled "Argh... Craving to Build"... Based on where you've chopped you battle cannon barrel, you may need an extra one to pull off the conversion, and I've got an extra battle cannon barrel floating around in my bitz box. PM me if you'd be interested in it.

Trooper, thanks for the battle cannon barrel! I'm still trying to figure out how I can use it, but I'll figure out something. In the meantime, I did some more work on my Punisher/Demolisher/Main Battle tank conversion. The battle cannon is finished, just needs paint. The Punisher will be worked on some more. Now, I have completed the Demolisher cannon. I was going through the 3rd edition tank bitz I got recently, and found the exact tank mantlet that I needed to cover the connection between the magnet and the Demolisher Cannon. Putting it on the turret, it looks pretty darn good. It covers it pretty well, and I can't wait to paint it.

I painted the Demolisher cannon, the Battle Cannon, and the stub on the turret. I really do like the look. This will do nicely. Battle Cannon Demolisher cannon, side.... ... and front view. I tried to drill small holes for the gas release, but decided in the end to paint it. Now all I have left to do is the Punisher barrels.

Looking good! I can't wait to see how the Punisher part works out--for obvious reasons.
