Hi everyone, I was in a modeling shop yesterday and saw a rather nice motocycle kit. I decided to see if I could use it to convert some rough riders with. This is the result, What do you guys think? Could you give me some feedback for inprovements because I`m thinking of creating a squad of them in my army. I`m sorry the paint job isn`t the best but its the first model I`ve painted in a while and its still not quite finished. Thanks

Hey, I like it! Way cooler than GW original idea with those bulky space marine bikes.

It looks good, but I still feel that the guardsman is a little ...lost on that thing.

looks like a scout but not a rough rider, but he's only a test model. At least give him a weapon saddlebag or a spear built into the bike frame on the side that extends forward. That'd be cool.

hmmm....seeing as it is a test model, i assume that the big round base will not be used on other future bikers right? overall i love the concept, if you are planning to do the hunting lances, i just want to say....never make the lances too long cos it would look out of proportion. good luck!

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't say much more than that tbh.
Only things that might help.
The base. There is a graet article on the GW website on making bike bases that are, grrr, what is the right word, not oval, but like a rectangle with a semi circle on each end. They would look really good.
Hunting lances. If ur taking RRs u want hunting lances. but they may not work right with bikes (they do not steer them selves for example). Some kind of tazer might work well and look really cool, give u some wicked modeling oppertunities too.
Please, please please, let us know where u got those bikes, or the manufacturer or.... well anything, cos I WANT SOME!!!!!!!!!
(u can prob tell that I really like those)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. The motocycle was from a Tamiya kit. I think the code is Item 35023**700. The good thing about the box is it comes with 2 complete motocyles the Zundapp KS750 and the BMWR75 so I`ll have a bit of variety. The scale is 1/35 so it is a little too big for the cadian but I`m not too bothered by that.
Looking at it, I think I`m going to drop the round base. It makes the Cadian look too small and will just be a pain when I have a few of them together. I`m not too sure what I`ll do to replace it though, the oval bases sound really good.
I`d also like to arm them with hunting lances but I`ll have to wait and see. I`ve never considered having rough riders in my army before.
I`m going to go to my local GW store today to see if I can get any more tips for improvement.

An excellent use of external model sources. Very well done. The only advice I could give is to give him a axe or something that might pass as a hunting lance. Or maybe if you want to use external models you could use a accesories sprue for infantry. Or maybe model on some rifle grenades onto a lasgun.....

for my rough riders i'm not using those really dodgy arabian looking rough riders, i'm gonna convert some using the riders of rohan kit (LOTR) and some cadian shock troopers, all i need is some green stuff.
