I'm sure this may have been covered earlier, but how does one go about making IG cadian models le down and still look realistic? My own attempts look damned stupid and I'd like some tips...

one, rather costly, method i tried was to get the dead soldier minis and take good prone positions from them. (removing the hands and upper torso ect)
the plastic cadians are easier to convert than most, if you carefully take their legs off around the skirt of their tunic, you can put them back pretty much wherever you like, a little trimming to the the proper angle or greenstuff helps alot too.
edit: oh and steel legion heavy weapon teams have prone guardsmen that could be modified.

I made a prone guardsman for my heavy bolter team (the stand having been used by another heavy weapon, as i was gonna get my $45 out of that box, dammit!) and I found that there is one set of legs on the shock trooper sprue that works well. For the head, trim away that neck-flap dealy on the back so his head can look up. For arms, the heavy weapon arms work but i have no idea how'd you get a prone guardsman holding a lasgun. Green stuff helps.

Cut the boots off so you can reposition them. File the figures so that the body curves up and fill in the gap where his stomach is. File away the bottom of the figure to remove any bits of clothing that stick out so it lies flat on the ground.

Thanks woz, I wanted to make an IG heavy bolter team with a bipod mount.
Errr, how do you deal with the hands on such a model? As far as I'm aware the heavy weapons sprue only comes with one hand piece for the tripod heavy weapons sprue, and I've already used this on my lascannons...
