I have Just got my Forge World model and i would like to know what would be the best way to base coat it? My Friend tried to base coat his Forge World model with (Chaos Black) out of the pot and it would not sink into the resin properly, He ended up painting it on really thick which didn't look right at, Should I spray a base coat on my Resin model Instaed of using (Chaos black) like my friend did???
Please may i have some advice!?
Many Thanks

Wash the resin first. Warm water with a small squirt or washing up liquid apparently does the trick. Rinse and leave to dry. Then I would spray chaos black as I would all my minis!
Hope that helps.

Yup, apply some soap (not the one up there /\, I doubt that's how he envisaged spending his Sunday) to remove the release agent as that just breaks up any paint you later apply if its not dealt with. Then when it's thoroughly dry give it a black spray, it'll suck up a lot of black spray and it can be a nuisance getting it into the nooks and crannies. Trying to brush paint onto bare resin just isn't going to happen.
Have you said anywhere which Forgeworld model it is?

I third the suggestion to wash your model with warm water and some dish detergent as well. I didn't know about that when I got my first Forge World kits, and had the paint peel off the models. Fortunately, it was just some terrain ruins, so it wasn't a big problem to re-paint, but I'd hate for a complex model with a nice paint job to have to be repainted.
However, I will suggest using white primer. I'm not a fan of black primer, unless I am painting something that is metallic looking, or has a dark color scheme (like a deep grey).

This is my Friends model that i left in the bowl of Dettol for around 25 hours; I then used a toothbrush to Clean off the paint that he had pasted onto the model. The only hard part was getting to the smaller areas, I would have taken more pictures but listening isn't one of my friend’s strong points lol and he decided to take it home and start painting it. This is my first time posting pictures so this is a good little tester for me when i go to post my army on the "Picture post" part of the forum. Many Thanks Major Downer Sorry about not having step by step pictures guys, im a learner lol
