So I started collecting guard over a decade ago, and I'm more into playing the game than modeling or painting, but I've decided that its time I actually had a theme. The idea I am bouncing around right now is a pirate regiment with lots of penal troopers (because really what says pirate better than penal troopers) led by a mutated half-dragon Straken. Does anyone have advice on how to convert a bunch of random guardsmen into a pirate crew? I want to preserve the randomness, as it shows they are recruited from a variety of sources, while introducing a unified theme.
Thanks!

They can have a distinct jolly roger! There are a lot of sources to go by when it comes to pirate lore. I'd say try to avoid cliches but that is pretty tricky with pirates. I have faith in this project turning out awesome.
