I got a baneblade...and one hint is to have patience and be careful! Unlike most GW products, the Baneblade is a real model kit and one tiny error on step 2 means a lopsided baneblade by the end. And give it a heavy stubber; it works well on a baneblade. I haven't painted mine yet...jeez its gonna use a gallon of paint...

I handpainted my Baneblade (i really want an airbrush) a whole pot of Catachan Green and Half a Pot of Camo Green and its still W.I.P. But its not a hard kit to put together it just takes time (lots and lots of time) and patience

advice on the painting of the baneblade.
Prime black, mask off the treads with tape, Use spray can paint Lay down dark color of choice, any place you want that color to stay mask off with clay. Spray second camo color and mask what you want to keep in that color with clay.
I have two bane blades to paint so I will lay down my base coat and show you guys what I am talking about. I'll make a tut out of it to show how easy it is to do.

Thanks for the advice guys. The only problem I ever have wit painting an army is i can never keep my mind on a coulor scheme and im always changing and it always seems to screw up a new army. Any tips on how not to keep my mind on one coulor scheme?
Thanks

My army uses a pink camo scheme. However, my bane blades and Hell Hammer use a woodland scheme. They are however, marked on the hull with a army badge to indicate they belong to the Amazonian LXIX. When on the field they fit in very nicely so, if you have different schemes in your army they could just be one of the companies that are pieced together from other companies that met a demise on the field of honor. Don't fret the small stuff. Place like scheme together to form units. It will all look nice in the end especially if you create a fluff around why they look this way.

Don't you have to change the sponsons as well when switching the main cannon? I think only the Baneblade has the Heavy Bolter sponsons and the Hellhammer the Heavy Flamer sponson.

I noticed a few posts here have mentioned how much paint they have gone through, whilst painting thet're Super-heavies. I have painted alot of tanks recently and I really, really have to say foundation paints are an absolute god send!
I advise starting with a black or white basecoat (If it's a black basecoat foundation paint is essential!) and then apply watered down coats of paint. It will take quite a few, depending on what colours you have used. multiple layers of thin, and watered down paint are far better than one think coat. Using watered down paint will also mean you go through less. Most painters know this but it's good to know if you are a beginer or new to painting tanks and large models in general.

I have done most all of my tanks in a Dark Angle Green/Camo Green. Luckly, I still have the spray cans from GW. I Base in black. Then sprayed it in DA green. Lastly, I camo it up with Camo Green. I still have lots of detail work to do. Hope you like it.

I hope you didn't get that as a christmas present this year. But maybe you live at a place where you get ur presents on the 25:th.
Anyhow, I too am going to handpaint mine. Handpainting big stuff is the nuts! but I don't want it in one color, and cool camo is hard to handpaint. Unlike the Leman Russ and Chimera, the baneblade hasn't much places where there would be obvious shifts in color. I am still thinking off how to make it look good, and i have until 5:th Januari to make it happend, without telling anyone, and i'ts the 28:th december now. Suprise Baneblade in an apocalypse match could be fun! Gotta get the blast templates too....

If you have yet to put the bane blade together. I learned a better way to build it versus the way the instructions say to do it.
First the lower part of main body should be put together and glued with the inside of the Track well. The upper part of the body should not be glued at this time, but just laid in place.
This will allow you to square it up nicer and the pieces will fit together tighter.
THen do the track off just the inside track well and around the drive wheels. Again, this will allow you to get the tracks straighter and easier to keep them that way.You will then be able to remove the top half of the body to fit the upper panels of the track well and the outer side of the track guard. They fit nice tight and clean with this assembly. Be sure to place the rear panel in place with the hose assembly in prior to putting the outer track well side on. This will allow you to align the hose assembly into place much easier.
For the side sponsons there is a couple ways to build them. But I normally started with the bottom plate and built my way up. While the instructions don't make it clear there is only one way that the center post fits so that the guns turn and move. Dry fit this before gluing the top into place.
Good luck. the above advise comes after building 5 of these tanks. One in a competition where I managed to put the thing together in 47minutes.
