ok so i am relatively new to 40k but i was thinking about converting a sentinel. my idea is to take an armoured sentinel, assemble as normal but leave off one of the weapons, then take a dreadnought CC weapon and lengthen it before attaching it to the un-armed arm. what do you guys think? is it do-able? if so could i use it in friendly games? i would like to hear what you people think, after all you are the IG vet's

*feels warm and fuzzy inside*
Well I think with GS it would work, and for what it would count as I think a sentinel power-lifter would work, as that has strength 5 as oppose to strength 3

I'm dubious on how this would look to be honest. If you want a close combat sentinel, why not just attach two of the massive chainblade arms that come with the kit to it? You can still use the powerlifter rules in friendly games and it will look a damn sight better than a dreadnaught CCW.

well you see i havent actually brough any sentinels before so i didnt know what was in the kit. but i will definitely look into the "massive chainblade arms" when i buy the kit.

I think a sentinel power-lifter would work, as that has strength 5 as oppose to strength 3 Check your codex.. Std. Sentinel has Str 5.. Guardsmen have Str 3... Check IA 1 for the powerlifter stats.. But personally i feel the Armoured Sentinel is better in CC..

hmm maybe if i buy the powerlifter i can steal the arm and put a chainblade on the end, as opposed to the lifty-claw thing, then add a gun to the other arm...

nuts, sorry about that. Didn't think a pdf from the forgeworld website would be suable to post pcitures of. I'm confused. Anyway back to the point I think in a friendly game you should be able to field it as a powerlifter, althouh actually having it counts as a DNCCW would be better as it would attack at st10 and ignore armour saves, as oppose to st 7 with armour saves. Up to you

well i was hoping to make it a sort of "counts as DCCW" but we shall see. depends on who i am playing really. i will probably only field it against my brother. also i will put pics on the conversion board when i do make it, probably 2-4 months time as i am rather busy atm.

How about something like THIS for a more Close-Combat-Oriented Imperial Guard "Assault Sentinel"? I got the idea from the AMP Suits featured in the movie " Avatar". I thought that an "RDA-styled", Catachan-based IG "Airmobile" Veteran-heavy army (using Scorpion Gunships as "Count-As" Valkyries), supported by a significant number of these "Assault Sentinels" (designed with the old VDR rules), carrying Heavy Weapons and "twin-DCCWs", would make for a pretty cool "themed" IG army (though only for use in friendly games, obviously). However, I'm now thinking about re-working the conversion idea by using a Grey Knight Nemesis DreadKnight for the main hull (as it would be roughly the same height) and adding the front portion of a Sentinel cockpit to it in place of the oft-complained-about "GK Terminator Baby Carrier" on the current DK model. I'm thinking that might make it look a little more like the AMP Suit than my current design (the Mark II version, seen above), while simultaneously making the model appear physically stronger, heavier, better-armored, and generally more able to handle itself in Close Combat situations...
