Well, you could just paint your Cadians in tan fatigues, so that'd mean Kommando Khaki, Bleached Bone, lots of sandy colours. Other than that, I just thought that you could use Catachans rather than Cadians.

Yeah, catachans are more of the desert army. At least they've got a merc feel to them.
Cadians would look stunning in modern day fatigues. Think of black hawk down and other stuff like that, they are great inspiration for guard armies. War movies, comrade, war movies!!!!

I use normal Cadians as my desert troops. All you really need to do is paint them in browns and yellows and they look fine. If you wanted to convert a few of them, the Catatchan models would be a good start. You could also buy a few of the metal Cadian Sentinel Crew Heads because he`s wearing sunglasses (a nice touch for desert troops IMO). Another thing you could try is having one guardsman in each squad carrying a jerrycan. If you`re good with green stuff you could also model scarves around the guardsmens faces instead of helmets. Thats all I can think of for now. Hope it helps.

Give your troops goggles, or maybe just give them to your your vehicle drivers and veteran troops. Desert soldiers always carry goggles to protect their eyes from the driving sand and harsh sun.

thanks guys for all the good advice. I was thinking of just painting some cadians in desert camo but i wanted more. Goggles and face masks are a good idea. I'm just not good with green stuff and i don't have any easy way of accessing goggles without heavy weapons or sentinel heads without buying the actual boxed sets. I will also try my best into converting some guard with face masks with green stuff hope fully i can post some pictures to show my progress. I also was thinking of putting some kroot mercs into my army to show my love for kroot. Well thanks again.

You could also try converting some desert animals for rough-riders to be mounted on. Like thoses wird ones in Star wars IV, I think it's IV. Anywho, look at the dark elf cold ones.
