Behold Major Savoy Watson:
Previously a full Colonel of the 26th Osarian Artillery Regiment, he was demoted for incompetence and now is a lowly infantry Major in the Osarian 10th. By far the oldest member of the regiment, it is a wonder that Watson is still alive, as he is reknown for his gung-ho, cavalier attitude to combat. He is commonly referred to as “Savvy Savoy”, due to his habit of surviving his frequent, gross tactical blunders. The riflemen serving under him are generally not so lucky, which is why he is viewed with dread wherever he goes. Watson took personal command of Baker Company, of the Second Battalion, who are notably more skilled than their fellow companies. This is due to nothing more than their need to become self sufficient due to his stunning incompetence in the field. Watson is an artillery man through-and-through, but due to the circumstances of his discharge from the 26th Artillery (an incident involving the destruction of an Inquisitorial Land Raider), he is refused anything more potent than a Griffon heavy mortar carriers. However Watson isn’t called “Savvy Savoy” for nothing, and he blackmailed the new CO of the 26th into giving him access to the regiment’s platoon of Blitzen 88 Batteries. Initially designed as AA guns, Watson had these obsolete artillery pieces modified to act as field guns. So far the Blitzen 88 Field Guns have vastly outperformed all expectations in combat, which has served to further inflate Watson’s already substantial ego.
This is my new CO - I needed a basic commander model without any special wargear, and since I had no use for my Master of Ordnance model, the inevitable happened. I accidently streaked his top lip with white while painting, and at that moment, with strains of Rule Britannia ringing in my ears, Major Savoy Watson was born. I didn’t want to make him the usual young, kick-arse, I’m as tough as nails, look at how awesome I am, type of commander that is prevalent at the head of most IG armies. Instead I thought I’d have an aging, incompetent, cavalier artilleryman. I’m already looking forward to his first outing in the field.
I also finished the rest of his squad today. I painted the vox man’s side cap and Savoy’s wristwatch blue to tie them both in with the plasmaguns in an attempt at creating a little squad cohesion.
Here are some other recently painted models:

Yes, yes, pink side caps, I know. I chose this colour because it is the colour I use for stowage on my tanks. I didn’t like it at first, but it has grown on me. I can now call this squad pansies, which means when they blow up a land raider I can say “Ha ha, your land raider just got blown up by a bunch of pansies!” Also, I haven't painted the meltagunner's banner yet.
I’m not exactly the best painter around, but these models are a bit rough, even by my standards. I have a tournament coming up in 3 weeks, so all I care about for the minute is that they look reasonable. I will come back in the future to fix them up properly.
