So this is the fifth installment of golden guardsmen. Many models have been entered, many minds blown my our fellow forum members awesome painting and converting skills. So I thought to mark this momentus occassion (and appease the masses) we could do things a little differently Entitled 'Heroes Of The Imperium', this competition is open to models from all 40k races and unit types. Why all races? Because you might have a Tau fire warrior whos been pit fighting, and as a result is a close combat monster. Who wouldn't want to see that?! ;D I just thought that 'heroes of the imperium' would be a cool name... The models submitted can be converted, re-posed, whatever you fancy, although it must all be done by YOU. Yes thats right, YOU. A bit paranoid now? You should be, I'm watching you.....! As usual, entries will consist of Final Finished Product (FFP) photos, preferably at least 3 from different angles, and up to 3 WIP photos. At least 1 WIP must be provided, to show that it was your own work! If you would like pics cropping etc then I can do that for you, providing the quality is acceptable (see further down). Models will also have to have a bit of background fluff (no more than 500 words) and an official-looking unit entry with stats, wargear and points costs. Why? So we can rock out your characters in our own games! You should now be aware of these requirements, anyone submitting without taking notice of this won't have their entries included in the voting thread. I have been very lenient with it in the past competitions, which was well responded by members adding 'it was a shame WIP's weren't included'. Peer moderation is a wonderful thing! Please also provide good quality photos where possible. Borrow a digi cam if you must, as some mobile phone pics do not look as good as they should. You want to do your painting justice! And if we can't see your wonderful painting, howcan we vote for it? All entries must be submitted to myself via PM by Thursday 28th April at 24:00 GMT, and as with previous competitions a separate voting thread will be created. The winner will recieve praise, glory, and the traditional no-expense-spared sig banner (provided by Ymott Industries) to proclaim how awesome they are. As always, this is all in the name of fun, and improving our painting skills, so please submit a model, especially if you voted for this competition! And please be as creative as possible! If you need inspiration (or a 'levels of crazyness' check) look at the previous voting threads. Good luck guys, I'm expecting no holds barred madness!

(Just checking it wasn't April fools day). If you want to see them now, you'll need a working time machine or a lot of patience.

Hmmm....My mind is to filled with faith to comprehend the previous conversation.. Anyway... Count me IN. I've entered all but one of these so I'll go ahead and enter ;D Just one thing I have a couple of black reach orks sitting around, and an old gray knight However I know very little about their fluff, so I would be supportive of creating a fluff help post, to assist newbies like me in coming up with accurate fluff.

EXAMPLE ENTRYAs he ran along riveted sheets of metal, punctuated by shell damage and rust, he had to dodge hanging pipe work. Many times he had to double back on himself, where vast ventilation systems had collapsed stories down into filthy sub-levels far below. As the private rounded another towering chimney, a brood of circling gargoyles made their attack. The harpy-like creatures let loose a flurry of organic rounds; disgusting beetles that pinged and splattered around the metalwork around him, and squirmed spasmodically as they quickly died. The bat-winged beasts then spat what could only be described as plasma, burning smouldering holes around his body and head. Almost losing his balance, Ibanez swung off the stack to which he clung, gripped his plasma gun tightly, and assumed a firing position. In quick succession the gargoyles dove, and Ibanez was ready. White-hot plasma vomited from his weapon, the heat from each shot distorting the air so the landscape rippled around it. Holes were burnt indiscriminately though leathery wings, carapace and flesh alike, the foul skink of burning permeating his respirator. Three fell to his initial assault, the remaining five splitting in different directions as they dove, only to wheel back and re-group a hundred or so metres above him. They dove as one, letting loose another barrage of shots and plasma, which chipped off the camo paint from his helmet and singed his uniform as they rained down upon him. His heart pounding in his chest and his breathing laboured, the guardsman squeezed the trigger in precise shot, sharp bursts. Two more fell, one shot was dodged, and a beeping in his ear warned him not to shoot anymore. Numerous lives had been saved by the overheat alert mechanism installed on the weapons, and many great soldiers had lived to fight another day. Ibanez ignored its warning; he only cared about surviving the next five seconds. He squeezed another shot, obliterating a screaming face, and the weapon in his had protested further with a higher pitched staccato. Another shot, blowing off pathetically dangling hind legs, sending what remained of their owner spinning at a tangent to the flock. A tinnitus-like whine filled his ear. Only twenty metres above him was certain death, uncaring and alien. His mind screamed to him to run, yet Ibanez stayed. With his thumb, he turned the charge dial to ‘full’, and the plasma coils shimmered with heat. The Gargoyles were only fifteen metres above him when he fired his final shot. The effect was not unlike the plasma cannons he had seen mounted on demolishers. The recoil from his weapon dislocated his shoulder as a molten ball of incendiary death erupted from the plasma gun. The paint on his armour flaked in the heat as the orb collided with the remaining creatures. As it hit, it dissipated in a thunderous, rolling shockwave that hurt the corporal’s ears and blinded his eyes. A thousand ugly heads, from above and below, turned and watched as the ceiling of the manufactorum cracked and buckled with the shockwave. Ibanez felt it give way underneath him, and he fell into the abyss below. Corporal Ibanez 25pts One Veteran Squad, Company Command Squad or Platoon Command Squad may replace one of its special weapon veterans with Corporal Ibanez. The deadline is exactly 1 calander month from today, you can paint what you want and make custom rules for it.
Theres a lot of people who would gie you a hand with the rules/fluff if thats what you're worried about.
I did my fluff a long long time ago, and spent 10 mins making up the rules and stats. The model I painted a while ago too, and am still a bit shocked as to how bad the painting is...... :S

This competition was made for you.

It's nice to know that I'm mobbable Would it be ok to maybe get some help with the rules and stuff? I can fudge my way through fluff and modelling, but I think I'm a little out of touch with the 40k rules now, and I'm sure I'm not the only one...
