Im building up my Valkyrie as we speak and im trying new ideas all the time to make my Valkyrie look awesome and stand out form the crowd. I was at work today and my friend bought a loud of Carbon fiber rap for his motor bike, so me being me, I ninjaed into his office took some scrap cuttings and ninjaed out ;D I cover the back wing just to test it out and to see what it would look like, I've never used it before so i'll practice a bit more with it later on. Many Thanks Major Downer I would like to know what you think of my idea

Pimp my valk ;D
I think it'd look slick as an Inquisitorial (Sp?) Valkyrie, although perhaps too slick for your average veteran squad. They'd drop ciggie butts in it and tread mud though.
A very cool idea!

Nice idea, but I'd recommand not covering the whole wing in order to leave the flaps and worky bits "natural".

I think your idea is very good.. in principal.
I see the following problems:
- this extra layer is likely to obscure, distort or enlarge any details, like the hinges on your picture or holes and section lines which are present all over the model.
- will the texture still be visible after you spray the model and cover it with layers of paint? In this case I advise to stick a piece on a flat surface and simply paint it like you would your model.
- it may be difficult to hide the edges of the tape, especially on larger surfaces like wings and there might be an issue with texture consistency / continuity. I understand it's a test piece on your photo, but the rear edge doesn't look particularly smooth, imagine that all over your model.
I can't really give you any solutions, but I would seriously think about it if you haven't already. I have this picture in my mind, of a model that looks like it was vacuum packed. I have just finished basecoating my valkyrie, it would be a shame to spoil such a lovely model.

Hey Outrider, Thanks for your comments First of all, like I stated at the start on my first post, this was just a test to see what the out come would be like, I know it's ruff round the edges. I think the details on a wing shouldn't really bother me so much because ill be cutting all the sections out any way so you can see the panels. Hidding the edges will be simple enough to do because you can hide them on the corners. I won't be covering the hole model in the Carbon fibre rap, just the centre wing and the little ones on the sides. I won't be painting over the carbon rap, im keeping it as it is I will be re-doing the wing that i put up as an example to a much higher standard of finish next week, so i hope to prove you wrong. If i feel that it spoils the model then i wont be too down hearted by it because i can just peal it off. Many Thanks Major Downer

Hello, right this is an update on what i have done: Me and my friend at work have be pratcing with the carbon rap and it turns out i am a complete N00B at putting the rap on, SO!..........I got my friend to help me out with re-doing my wing that I had done as an example. I think it has came out a lot cleaner looking and neater looking, Ill be updating this each day that i put more carbon on the little wings Many Thanks Major Downer

I think it could be a good idea to put some of this wrap somewhere else on the model as well, like on main wings and part of the nose. It will tie it together.

Hey Outrider,
Im not carbon wrapping anything eles because its hard to do and i think if i did carbon wrap the main wings and part of the nose it would look abit over kill/ Tacky.
Many Thanks
