Ok I was playing my friend Dan at GW today, and having beaten him twice in a row against his space wolves (I got kinda lucky : he played the third game as daemons. We rolled for mission, and it was capture and control. Deployment type, pitched battle. it was 1000 points.
I deployed first, Dan left everything in deepstrike, using a rule which allowed half his army to come down on the first turn.
He had
Blood Thirster
Blood Crushers w/ hell blades
Pink Horrors w/ changeling and bolt of tzeench
Plauge Bearers w/ Chaos Icon
Bloodletters w/ Hell Blades
Basically what looks like a defiler and is the only daemon vehicle
I had
CCS w/ ML, MoO, PG and Medi-Pack
PCS w/ Medic, Heavy Flamer
TS 1 w/ GL + AC
TS 2 w/ HB + Flamer
HWS w/ 3 x Lascannons
Vet w/ 'Pace, 3 x GL, Chimera
Leman Russ MBT w/ Lascannon
Leman Russ Exterminator w/ Plasma Cannons
Ok I deployed first, set up my troops in a box formation, with tanks covering the flanks and my chimera in reserves (I'm going to adore this decision)
Dan stole the initiative, but since everything was in reserves I went first. I moved around a little, that's all.
His first turn, half his army came on. His defiler, blood crushers and changelings came on. In shooting, his blood crushers ran behind a building, his defiler shot plehgm at my Execution and shook it, and the changeling whipe away most of my Auto cannon Squad.
My 2nd turn. I move my Executioner and pivot him to show his front armour to the defiler, move my techpriest behind it (forgot to mention him in army list). I use bring it down on my lascannon team, and a successful penetrating hit blows the defiler off the board. ^^
I targeted the horrors, discover 'The Glamour of Tzeench', and suddently Dan gets to choose what my tank fires at, and a signle battle cannon shot wrecks my exterminator :<.
I fire both inf squads at the horrors, whiping a few off. The MBT turned out to be the only unit which failed it's leadership check when firing at the horrors for the entire game.
Dan's 2nd turn, he moves his blood crushers around, moves his changelings foward, and nothing comes on. His horrors fired at my inf squad ( the autocannon one) and whipes it off the board.
My 3rd turn, my chimera comes on and I move it up the right flank, getting in position for a nab at his un-claimed objective (mine was sitting right behind my CCS, unclaimed - yet). I bring all of my weapons to bear on the only target: the horrors, and bring it down to half strength.
Dan's 3rd turn, all of his reserved forces come on, and he places his Blood thirster and Blood letters close to my forces but obscured by a ruin (same place as the blood crushers), a little too close for comfort. His horrors fire at my lascannon team, reducing them to cinders :<. They pass their Ld check. He moves his plauge bearers towards his objective to stay there (it's in a ruin).
My 4rth turn, I move my chimera up to the halfway mark on the board. I bring what I have left to bear on the horrors, whiping it down to 3.
Dan's 4rth turn, his bloodletters charge my remaining inf squad, and massacre them. His horrors...did somethign. Can't remember what.
He moves his Blood Thirster and blood crusher into charging distance of my PCS and CCS.
My 5th turn. I desperatly get my techpriest to run inbetween his BT and BC's in a futile attempt to block their advance. My Chimera brings all it's guns to bear on the horrors, killing them. I desperately reorganise my PCS and CCS to try and protect my PCS (CCS can't score).
Dan's 5th turn. His blood letters charge my tech priest, his blood crushers charge my PCS, and his Blood Thirster charges my CCS. All die a horrible death.
Dice is rolled, game continues.
My turn 6. In a last ditch attempt to deny him my objective, I fire the MBT at his blood letters, and a single battle cannon shot (emperor be praised) blows the foul daemons off the board. He now has no scoring units at my objective (he still has his BC and BT though).
I drive my chimera up to the ruin, next turn hoping to disembark and contest.
Dan's turn 6. His BC do nothing, and his BT flies over to my MBT and opens it like a can of beans.
Dice rolls a 6 (I am releived, Dan is annoyed).
My final turn. I pivot the chimera, disembark, then move it to contest the objective through the ruin wall (didn't realise that since it had no embarked troops it didn't score). I then fired a las-pistol can three krak grenades at the plaugebearers, and assaulted. I won combat by two, but since they are fearless the 'bearers stayed in the fight.
Dan's final turn. Knowing he can't get his Blood thirster or crusher to his own board edge in one turn, he desperately attempts to whipe my squad out with his plauge bearers, causing a single wound, which I save. I strike back (well I struck first actaully), and fail to wound (damn FNP). The game ends on a draw, although I should've have been devoured. (PHEW!)
