Could anyone tell me what the rules are for using non GW tanks in games. I don`t like the Leman Russ tank. I want to make a Leman Russ/Sherman hybrid using the Shermans hull and the Leman Russ weapons. Would I be allowed to use this in a store. I don`t see a problem with it since I`ve had to buy a Leman Russ tank to get the weapons and everything specific on the tank would be the real deal (no saying this counts as a Lascannon or whatever).
Thanks

in home towns no not really just make sure its ok with your crew.
at tournaments a model has to be 70% GW products to be able to be used in a tourny.

I believe GW rules also state that the mini can not use ANY model bits from other companies. So just be aware that it won't be usable in official tournaments. For mom-n-pop shops and gaming clubs, go nuts, people love conversions.

That rule is the most bent rule I have ever heard. 70%? If the courts decided somehow that that was illegal it would force GW to rethink their ridiculous prices.

It's their tournement, they make the rules. Besides, that 70% no other company rules applies only to GAMING companies. stuff like Tamiya is probably okay. As always, please correct me if i'm wrong.
I see no problem with it in home games, as long as the tank fits a reasonably scaled footprint compared to the model it's proxying.
