Ok heres an idea i had in mind, i just need some help bringing it into being. First off, I got this idea from 3 Doors Down's new song dedicated to the National Guard, Citizen Soldier. When I was listening to the song, it fits PERFECTLY with the Imperial Guard! Listen to the song and it'll make you want to start playing a game with the Guard But anyway, i wanted to make a scene of a Guardsman, maybe a sergeant or a Karskin sergeant shielding a woman holding her little girl. The sergeant would have his pistol or rifle extended, with a scream on his face, mowing down oncoming Orks, Chaos or Tyranids. I would then lay a few dead ones on the ground to show that he's already killed some in an effort to save the woman and child. What does everyone think? How would I model the woman and child? Any suggestions? Do you like the idea? Isnt the song BADASS? :-D -Adam

The woman could be one of Asdrubael Vect's slaves. Otherwise, if you do not wish to go with GW, try Hasslefree Miniatures. I think they have good civilians.

That sounds really awesome, I have admit the first time I heard the song and saw the video I really wanted to have a match. I would definitely use a regular guardsman one handing a bolter(somehow, but it'd look kule) with his helmet knocked off laying near him. You gotta post some picks of your progress.

Hmmm you can always use some of the witch elves, or even the Mordheim female middenheim figure. Sure she has two hammers, but that can be modified easily.
Only problem is I think the guards man would be shooting at the on coming horde and trying to thrust a weapon into her hands as well.
"Defend yourself woman and shut that brat up!"

Haha eh, that sounds more like a Space Marine sorta thing to do. The Guard is 100% unmodified human, so they feel compassion towards civilians.

you obviously have not read the uplifiting primer yet. The propaganda is that it is your duty to fight and die regardless of your sex. I see a guardsman more inclined to thrust the weapon into the capable hands of a civilian than for a Marine.

the damocles crusade uplifting primer? i read it and loved it however as we all know guard dont always follow that. any guard who have fought the orks know that they dont run from loud noises so you can imagine why most primers turn in to tp.
but yeah guard do have compassion to the civilians i mean they are the heros of the imperium.
you know i think the kasrkin sergeant would be your best bet. he has his head and a hellgun pistol pointed in the right direction and looks right.
so you know there you go

Okay, why not use GW's Lord of the Rings Hobbits for children, as they are true scale 25mm and IG are Heroic actually about 30mm then I think it would fit. In the Bretonian damsel blister, there is a woman standing, granted the clothes are quite ornate and medieval, however there's no reason why in such a vast universe there weren't people dressed like this (look at Star Trek or Star Wars), also the Hobbits have kind of a medieval clothing as well.

The civilians could be from some feudal/backwater world to explain the clothing. The idea sounds great. Mordheim has some civilians too, but I can't remember if any are women.

put it on top of a hidden music player, so that when people come to look, the song starts playing. How epic would that be?

It would be very epic. The song definitely makes me want to make some sort of movie were theres one last defensive structure defending a huge city from a horde of orks. Very good diorama idea cant wait to see pictures.
