So.. Me and My Eldar mate thought we'd play a scenario game... the guard have an entrenched defence and the Eldar attack, rules were that the Eldar could set up to within 18"..
A last minute idea (after deployment) was that the Guard would have to get their transport vehicles off the far end of the bridge in order to respond to a fake attack the Eldar had begun, and thus leading them into an ambush.
I had
CCS with master of ord, lascannon
Platoon with 5 squads ML and GL and chimera
Platoon with 3 squads each a commissar and power swords for all that could have
Both platoon command had flamers
another CCS with GL in chimera
2 demolisher (one with H-Bolt one with Multi-Melt and H-Flamer)
1 Punisher
1 Basalisk
Guard Deployment:
Guard got first turn, so moved up as far as I could, and shot up nearly all his dire avengers on the ground floor of a nearby ruin, with a hefty amount falling prey to the punisher cannon...
He sent his Serpent with Fire Dragons into the midst of the terrain while unleashing multiple bright lances and various other high power weaponry upon my armoured flanks.
The Bass was there to deter Fire Prism tank sniping.. it worked, and he hid the fire prism (its pinkish and toward the back)
one of my favourite images, the view down the lascannon in the master of ord CCS:
The fire prism.. which hid (odd as it was beyond the 36" of the Basalisk so could still be targeted, yet prevented it from having clear LOS)
Wraithguard pour form the back of a wave serpent to unleash their tank killing potential, immobilisn the chimera with the 2nd CCS in
His Harlequins advance (after much sneaky hiding in shadowy Mists)
The Dragons smoke my chimera, leaving themselves exposed
After finishing off the squad in front of the Punisher, the Harlequins hid by the Fuel Tank, where upon a chimera disembarks a new squad who are able to see through their mist and take down four.
Meanwhile the Chimera's by the ruin are under heavy assault from various Wraithforms while an Avatar lurks further down the alleyway
Not that ruins can hide such large beings from the Demolisher, yet no casualties are taken as the cover does prevent a large number of the shots becoming effective
Though the Chimera charge looks to have failed, it has drawn all the Eldar attention away from the defences and enables a near constant stream of missiles to fire of at the various targets on offer
All under the mindful supervision of their Commanding Officer and the Master of Ordnance.. little caring that a stray shot might eliminate the other command squad in the chimera.. inter-regiment politics being as they are...
The Eldar tightly cling to the cover offered as they weather a barrage of massive explosions from Basalisks, Demolishers and the Command Unit
Once the deadly rain finishes they manoeuvre into the gun sights of an entrenched foe
The Harlequins deftly leap over the tanker and set about eliminating the Punisher with fusion pistols, though strike too late as the punisher tears holes in one of the wave serpents and finally makes its points back in a game
The Various Tanks and Guardsmen on the far right flank wait patiently for their opportunity to take down the Avatar
And finally they get their moment
Yet even with several direct hits the God of the Eldar continues forward cleaving through flesh like paper and leaving only death in its wake
Yet while the Avatars attention is drawn to the trembling troops before it (stuck between a commissars pistol and a god of a dying race, they nobely held their ground and fought til the last)...
...the Command Squad in the immobilised chimera burst forth and scurry through the ruins enabling them to destroy the second wave serpent with accurate krak grenades to its rear armour, spilling its wrathguard contents into the ruins...
..and that was kind of where we finished, I managed to take out the fire prism and ping the war walker which had been sneaking down the far right alleyways, leaving him with 4 wraith guard, a wounded avatar and wounded wraith lord, and a war walker with 1 bright lance..
...had we more time he could still have done a fair bit of damage and it could still have gone either way, though in mission terms I had 3 mobile chimera and a mass of ranged missiles, multi lasers, demolishers, basalisks etc while he was left with 3 walkers getting stuck in speed bump squads and some effective but short ranged ballistics...
main thing.. we both enjoyed it and the photo's have come out great!!.. I might get round to photo shopping in some backgrounds too...
