So the last night, after reading Deus Encarmine, A blood angels book, I had an incredible craving to paint one. However, I don't have any Blood Angel Models. I then noticed a bunch of spare CSM bits lying around from my vehicle sprues. One batch of inspiration later and I have produced this: A CSM gunner with looted Blood Angel armour! How does it look, is there anything I need to improve on? I realize that the ring he is standing in is unpainted, but I don't care about that too much

Was that the James Swallow book? And Mechrite red?
Anyway he's looking great. Should we be expecting Dante and the sanguinary guard?

Yep, thats the one... and yes, Mechrite red. with blood red and blazing orange highlights, then a baal red wash ;D
And no, no Dante and/or Sanguinary guard... Althouch I am tempted to buy the box and do them in the style of Angels Encarmine (I think), bright white Armour...

I would thin my paints a bit.. more layers.. and then work a bit on where the highlights are.. I find using a lamp to cast shadows, helps me a bit..

Yes, I realize my paints are too thick... Sooner or later, there will be more to point to the more Heretical side of him... I will try your suggestion on a different model Kras... actually, I may dedicate him to you... I tend to find I paint better when doing it in appreciation of somebody else Ok, points to remember. Lamp for highlighting help. THIN PAINT! Thats it for now, feel free to add to it...

You can use either tear off sheets of pallette paper (from art shops), empty blister packs or tiles to thin the paint. Try 50/50 mix at first; it's all about lots and lots of thin layers rather than one thick layer. Also make sure there isn't too much paint on the brush itself (i.e don't overload the brush)
