Ok, so I am putting a few objectives together. I managed to find a few shells from a baneblade kit, among other things.
I am probably going to make five objectives, so that there are enough for a standard game. I want to mount them all on the same size bases so that no objective is easier to grab than any other. Do people think that 40mm are the right size for this? They seem to be a lot bigger than the dice I have been using, so some people may think them unfair.
So far I have planned a wounded trooper behind some crates, a mound of rocks with a banner stuck in, and maybe a supply cache or a vox relay.

Thats far too funny ;D I can imagine a whole series of narrative mini-games, especially if the inquisitor loses keys like my girlfriend does... Inquisitor: Where's my damn keys!? Henchman: Have you tried down the back of the sofa? Inquisitor: Have you tried down the back of the Ork Waaaaagh... get moving. Henchman: Those keys looked even better in real life. Glad you didn't loose them when you were acting as my transport

Like its reins, or bench-pressing it?

Thatd be impressive, benchpressing TWO horses. Definately have to use catachan arms though.

Mine are just a basic model on a 25mm square base, on a 50mm square base painted grey. Simple statues. Of course if you want to make them look authentic then chop the arms off and make it look like wear and tear. Of my 5 obectives 2 are marines, 3 guardsmen; one of whom is just a feral empire greatsowrd with a laspistol holster.

As long as you measure from the centre of an objective (having something designate the centre can be helpful) it won't matter what size base you use. Though I'd suggest using smaller bases (infantry base or one size bigger at most) as they will be easier to place on you board without interfering with terrain etc.

Majorspeirs, awesome objective of the guardsman covering his head with a mortar round in the ground nearby. That is classic!

The only thing that I think the duck and cover objective could use, which would make it perfect, would be a little bit of smoke coming out of the back of the mortar shell... Maybe a little bit of cotton, teased out, and dipped in some Badab Black wash glued to the back end of the shell between the fins?

Heh, and now that I am thinking about it, a brown stain on the seat of the Guardsman's pants might be appropriate (if a little gross) too... (Inspired by the character "Brownie" from one of the Last Chancer's novels... I think it was the final one which was set on Armageddon, "Annihilation Squad"?)
