My army has a common color scheme...(i think)... Shadow grey armor, kommando Khaki fatigues and the gun is also shadow grey. Thats for my basic marine. I like the cadian idea of the white stripe to show he is a conscript. I'm trying to find my own unique way of showing my conscripts. I was thinking instead of a squad number just paint the left shoulder Regal Blue(thats a dark rich blue). I'm not the greatest with color, so please help me out guys what woudl look good, but also be semi-unique.

regal blue and shadow grey look good together imo. i do it with my army. i suggest trying it on a few guys, if you dont like it its easy to paint over a shoulder pad. i paint the shoulder pads of my guys to distinguish between squads too, it makes it really easy for you and your opponent to tell them apart.

Do you use any transfers on your regular guardsmens shoulder pads? If you do, you could always leave the conscripts shoulder pads bare. Thats what I do to distinguish my guardsmen from the conscripts. Another thing I do is give my guardsmen full webbing while the conscripts don`t get any.
Edit, I also file away the Imperial Eagle on my conscripts helmets. They only get to wear that once they prove themselves.

to signify that they are conscripts i would suggest a scab red stripe on the shoulder pad...either on the left or the right...inside the pad maybe a number?

go for base colors. They are the best if you're painting stripes and you don't have to paint several layers. go for it!

Why not just give them all blue helmets or all white helmets?

Because that's not fashionable.

I was reading up on some background and apperently the conscripts dont have things like the imperial egal or army bages etc on their clotihng.
so i would use a knife to take of the egal from their chest and helmet. maybe even their gun and warter flask.
if you want to make it even more obvius you could even chop of the sholder pads and the block on the back of the helmet.
it sure will make them stand out, but still look part of the army. I havent got any conscripts yet, but when i do, that is what i will be doing. want to get another 50 or so gaurdsmen first.

I think if you were to just give them one white shoulder pad it would look good, it would also look good if you removed the imperial eagle from there helmet. Or you could give them a white or red stripe on one of there arms.

To separate my conscripts I paint them without gloves and give them orange gear, to look like training equipment that had to be grabbed at the last minute.

My conscript platoon are identified in the fact that each model is half the size of the normal model. I am using the Familiar Demonette. I am removing the tails, and making green stuff girl scout uniforms for them. While my entire army is pink this platoon is girl scout green with the squad leader (Older girl full size model yes I know there are no sergeants) is the troop leader blue (Light blue shirt with darker blue skirts).
How ever you make yours even if you are able to tell model from model you are still going to have to tell your opponent which unit is which.
