This is the first Valkyrie of my Elysian army. I decided to paint it using a digicamo color scheme as it's not a frequent scheme. The key colors are: - Radome Tan (VAC) for the light tan - Medium Sea Grey (VAC) for the grey - Light Grey Green (VAC) for the light green - Charadon GRanite (GW Foundation) for the weapons A fun model to paint, altough I wished I had painted the camo before assembling the model... Would definitely have been much easier! C&C welcome!

Great job! Im currently doing something similar, albeit with hexagons rather than squares. I lost the will to live though, as you can probably imagine, so my valk its watching me half finished. So, did you mask or freehand? My only criticism would be that theres no top view!

Overall, I like it a lot. Nice overall tone and realistic look. Did you hit the canopy with dull cote?

OI, WHO'S BEEN PLAYIN' SPACE INVADERS WITH THE DIGICAMMO AGAIN?! THAT'S HERESY YOU MAGGOTS!
I finished assembling my valk today and I'm already dreading having to paint it. Yours looks absolutely brilliant though, you managed to avoid making look too tauish. ;D

Looks really nice, hasdrubel!
Lastik: Valkyries and Vendettas are a joy to paint. Probably the most favorite vehicle I've painted to date...

Thanks for the comments. The camo pattern was done in about 2-3 hours using my trusty airbrush and a dedicated stencil I purchased from Artool, so no real masking per se. The most difficult part was to get it flat on the surfaces, so that I would achieve a sharp finish instead of a smooth transition (mind you, I didn't succeed everywhere). Next time, I'll paint all the panels and fins separately before assembing them, it'll be much easier.
Yes, I did hit the canopy with matt varnish (though I'm spraying it through the airbrush as well), hance the blurry look. I wonder whether the next one will get the same treatment before receving Tamiya Smoke for a dark glass effect, or whether I'll keep it clear.
I confirm that the model is great to paint once you're done with the key basecoats (especailly the ones done with a brush, which I tend to avoid as much as possible for vehicles).
If you're interested, here's the list of techniques adn products used for the weathering process: 1. Sponging a lighter tan color on front areas: mix of VAC Radome Tan, VAC White and GW Space Wolf Grey 2. Sponging GW Boltgun Metal over most of the light tan chips created, in order to get bare metal exposed 3. Gloss varnish sealing, then fading using oils paints and turpentine. I've used German 3-tone Fading, German Grey Highlight, Olive Green, Light Flesh Tone (Mig Productions) and Raw Sienna (Sennelier) 4. Panel lining and pin washes using a mix of Industrial Earth (Mig Productions) and Raw Sienna (Sennelier) oils paints, thinned to a wash with turpentine. The streals were done after approx. 1.5 hour of drying time, using an old brush 5. Apply Oils and Grease Stain Mixture (Mig Productions) on the engines piping and turbine fans 6. Apply Standard Rust Effect (Mig Productions) as a pin wash on the landing pads 7. Spray Tensochrom Oil (Lifecolor) behind the main wings bolts, and Smoke on the turbines and behind the engine and other exhausts 8. Apply Smoke pigments (Mig Productions) around the edge of engine exhausts (inlduing the vectorial engines on the wings), seal with Pigment Fixer (Mig Productions)
Overall, it takes more time to weather the vehicle than paint it ;D That's it!

thats one hell of a paint job, musta taken quite the number of hours to get it so refined... wish i had that much time and skill to put into my army. love the engine exhaust marks too, adds some nice detail to the overall thing, though it's pretty damn detailed as is =P
very well done, keep up the work, i wanna see more =D
