So i just got done putting together my first box of Cadian guard and painted the leader of the squad and what to see what you guys thought of the camo pattern. Was going for a arctic pattern and I'm not 100% on the pattern yet. Was also thinking of trying to use white or something. also this is just the base colors no shading or highlighting yet.

Did you undercoat black or white? It looks very smooth...

If you want artic camo, shadow grey triangles with black dots over your base colour might work. Keep up the good work mate.

Did you undercoat black or white? It looks very smooth... He was undercoated black but after doing this one i went out and bought some white spray to do the rest of the squad as painting the lighter colors was a pain to do over black. Shostak(AWOL) yeah i saw something like that on the GW website and i liked it but i was also thinking that would be very time consuming to do a whole army like it. However i was thinking of doing it on characters and squad leader just to make them special. otherwise thanks for the complaints and i will try to finish this guy soon. also the highlights/shadowing part i have issues with.

i like the face, good paint job there. i also like the white on the guardsmen, changes it up from the typical army colors (which i decided to do ... ><)
could be me, but he kinda look like hitler with the shadowing on his face lol..........

I like how clean it looks, but in my opinion (which doesnt count for anything ) The grey looks almost plastic, which is a little odd, but true to the fact they wear tinfoil as armour

Agreed, you've done a cracking job on it. A full unit of guys painted like this will look great! Don't forget the bases though....

Just wanted to update quick to let you guys know im still here. I have finish putting this unit together and have started painting the rest of the squad, trying different things with them first before doing anymore with this guy. I have decided to stick to this pattern and maybe add more of a winter camo pattern with something like the triangle with dots idea. squeestick and Comradepanda: The grey looking like plastic was one of the first things i noticed about it, but i think with more highlights and shadows it will look like it has been painted more.

yeah, good call man. try maybe a little dark grey or drybrushed black around the edges, maybe some stains on the middle of it? you can even pockmark the armor or put holes in it to make some detail and add some color to the grey part so you can distinguish better =]
overall i think it looks damn smexy, keep at it and post some more!!! =DD

well i have messed around a little and painted a couple guys real quick and did a small bit more on the leader. New pic of the leader to start. just a little touch up done and painted his gun. Now that i look at the pic though it seems there is need for some touch up of his left pad. Here is one of the quick painted guys just for trying things. This one has matching paints and shirt for fatigues and im thinking i like the overall look of this one a little better then the grey pants. then just 2 pics of each squad that i have and the general progress of each. So i have been staring at my undercoated chimera trying to figure out how exactly i want to paint it. so here is a pic of what a regular trooper looks like in my army and was wondering what you guys think would be a good way to paint my tanks while keeping it a winter scheme.
