Ello...
So I finally had a game of Apocalypse!... 11 hours of play and I only had 1 turn!!! (the orks had 2)... I did have several beers, loads of pizza an a lot of fun though!
We used three types of cotton wool / teddy bear stuffing, white, grey and black, this helped loads with weapon damaged, stunned etc as we knew all the white stuff (stunned/shaken) would be removed at the start of the next player turn. I also made sure everything was bought extra armour / armour plates and there fore all stunned became shaken.. much easier!
I took about 200 odd photo's too... heres the selection of the 38 best...
We had very open reserves rules; any model could arrive from reserve at will - no roll needed, and units with deep strike could also outflank. This allowed the marine honour guard squad to jump pack right into the middle of a huge mob, and due to fearless orks, dished out 40 or so casualties... then got charged by deff dreds... though the librarian would have teleported them out of there in turn 2... I do regret not charging the damaged stompa though, as the vortex psychic power would have done much better.. the fear of apocalyptic explosion put me off... such cowardly behavior!
What I din't realise is just how powerful the pulsa rokkits are... they crippled everything in the imperial army except the reserves and a tiny amount of men on the far left flank where the infernus came on... buy doing this the imperium had no chance to halt the tide of green swarming toward it.
Melta vets were ace at stompa killing, turning the silver one into a wreck (with the help from a couple melta shots from the assault marines) the other unit and the Vendetta made sure the red one could only fire a couple of big shoota and move 6".. it wasn't able to stomp either.. but it did have repair krew and a mek on board so would have rapidly powered up again!
Melta vets also took out the pulsa rokkit infront of the shadowsword (which had failed to crush it under its treads when it had arrived...)...the drop pod ironclad also took out the lifta droppa battlewagon which had been stacking tanks in the ranks earlier!..
during ork turn 2, loads of rokkit koptas took out the dreads from behind, and becuase they flew they would be immune to the pulsa rokkit, which we decieded earlier was a linear effect... shaking builings which meant so many men were unable to fire!
The nobz made it across the two little mine fields (each cause dangerous terrain) and began chewing the front line... at which point the defnders realised there was no hope...
so, on the 13th hour of the day the imperium conceeded... too knackered to continue!... there was still hope, but in sending too much after the red stompa (which was essentially a close combat machine once it had fired the psycho dakka blasta and its supa rokkitz) and not enough at the 2nd pulsa rokkit (which was still reaping havoc on the right flank - 3D6 S4 hits per unit with 4D6 of the rokkit... and D3 glancing on vehicles.. Ouch!.. oh and every unit has to go to ground too!)...we had doomed ourselves!... Especially as our secret agenda / objective was to hold the rear most buildings in the right flank...
for the drunk commanders... a court martial awaits!...
hope you liked the show... 15 years of modelling and painting is all it took!...
Ps- I intend to edit this when my son is on my lap and explain whats going on in each image!
