Im new on this forum and im requesting some help. For awhile ive been trying to find some inspiration for a totally unique imperial guard army and i finally found one. The only problem is that im not 100% sure how to convert normal Cadian Shock Troops to them. The Picture that follow are Drawings that i found that are what im basing my guardsmen. This is my inspiration on a normal Imperial Guardsmen My Storm trooper Inspiration A cool Veteran A possible Commisar Another guardsmen not wearing armor A sniper A Space elf like race would be slaves and would act as conscripts img233.imageshack.us/img233/1628/guardmensheadsih2.th.jpg[/IMThe heads i will most likely use for the Standard Guardsmen Possibly convertible heads for veterans I did not draw or paint any of the picture they are done by a person named Mcgibs i do not take credit for any of them The heads are from Pig iron mini's The only thing i really know about the Regimental Doctrine Rules is that they have carapace armor and have storm troopers Any advice on modeling them?

hmm.....lots of kisirkin, and then cut the heads of for the vets. Definitely a cool idea! Or DKOK from forgeworld.
Also, Welcome to IGMB, we are a pretty good bunch of ppl. If you need anything, you can basically ask anyone, Me, Commissar, Fuzziness, Woz, Azalar, Dethklok, and fishki, and odds are we can tqake care of it!

I have a little bit of an issue with the pictures you've given. The soldiers depicted are all situated in different climates, and, in some photo's, in different degree's of readiness.
However, I did notice a theme of oddly armored, almost Light Infantry. If I was in your position, I would seriously consider taking a look at the Elysian Drop Troops from Forge World. Additionally, look at the Death Korps of Krieg from Forge World, as Cadian 117 mentioned.
That being said, Forgeworld is known for being very expensive, and, in some places in the world, hard to get shipped.
If you were to take the legs from a catachan sprue, and the body, arms, and head of a Cadian sprue, and combine them, you would have a great starting point. Minor conversions to add armor (knee-pads, shoulder-pads) and breathing apparatus (DKK-style) with green stuff would fill out the rest of the model.
Also, combining the remaining bits (Catachan Body, Arms, Head with Cadian legs), and, again, adding some extra converting, could possibly give you some very lightly armored conscript types.
Doctrines wise, I would take something like this: Light Infantry, Grenadiers, Storm Troopers, Conscript Platoons, Sharpshooters
Maybe not the most solid set of Doctrines ever, but it allows you to take the units you want, fulfills the fluff role to go with your mini's, and also helps make your army more tactically flexible.
Just my two cents.

Thanks for all the advice its much appreciated. S.B. i understand what you are saying with the picture i had posted. They are just ideas not exactly what my Army will look like. Basically i wanted a Heavy Armored Gas mask wearing Soldiers and lots of tanks. I would use forge world models if they weren't so expensive, Ive also heard some bad things about the actual models. The army will be a uniformed one. Ive also dropped the whole Space elves idea , after looking it over i decided it was a bad idea. For the conversion of my basic guardsmen Im going to smooth out the flak armor chest plate and make it more bulky (like in the first picture) I'm also going to be using the Pig Iron Production Kolony militia heads for the guardsmen. I'm going to also add Elbow and knee pads with GS. I'm going to add a sort of waist armor like the Harokan warhawks have (i know i didn't spell harokan right i was to lazy to look it up). For the storm troopers im not yet sure how im going to deal the modeling for them i guess i will just have to cross that bridge when i get to it. Like i said before i appreciate all of the advice and S.B.'s two cents. I would also like to thank for the nice intro i will hopefully stay around for along time. Expect to see me posting all the time. Thanks

The gun that storm trooper is carrying reminds me of the assault rifle from F.E.A.R.

If you wanted to use some minis other minis than what GW offers this company, I think it is called darkson or something, offers neo-futuristic WWII minis.

Also for a few guardsmen that are not actually GW you could get Darksons(I think thats what its called) mosels, they are like semi-futuristic WWII minis. The Americans look pretty much like they did in the war, but the Germans and Russians are insanely awesome.
