Can't make my mind up. Typical. What do you think of these testminis? Cheers CC

I like both. I have a friend who collects Blood Ravens and I have developed a healthy respect for them.
However, Iron snakes are likely to be easier to paint on an army-based scale.
I've heard of the Iron snakes but I'm not sure where...... do they have any fluff or backround or are they simple a Vanilla SM Chapter.

I have to say I'm not really familiar with the Iron Snakes, but I think the Blood Ravens look better. Defiantly post pictures.

Mabus: The Iron Snakes are featured in some BL publications, so they kind of are 'official'. Dunno, maybe I like the BR's colour scheme better... ? Cheers CC

Yeah got for the ravens, althought the silver guys are gonna be less common... I think the blood ravens certainly look ALOT better.

AHAHAH Blood angels/ravens (DUH on your part ) Anyways mate, i say go with the Iron Snakes. Simply because, everyone seems to be taking up the whole Blood Ravens idea now, and i think you can justify a less known chapter with your detail and paintwork. Having said that, i still love the Blood Ravens you've done so far

I say Iron Snakes - But then, I kinda gravitate towards lesser known stuff... my very first army was Black Templars, and I got rid of them soon enough... but I have never (and would never do) a Dark Angels/Wolves/Blood Angels/Ultramarine etc. army just because they are so common. Grey Knights I wanted to try because they are so difficult to master.
Blood Ravens are not that common yet, but they do have a "flavor of the month" aftertaste to them because of Dawn of War (as old as that is by now...)

Even though I was thinking along the same lines as mardaddy, I love your blood ravens, so honestly I cant choose, so tell us your opinion on the two different schemes?

I also like the Iron Snakes a bit more then the Blood Ravens for exactly the same reasons posted here, also because I've been slowly reading through Brothers of the Snake.
all this and the fact that everybody know those Blood Ravens can't be trusted, same with all those other chapers that start with the word Blood.

actually, blood angels are trust worthy because they are noble. they strive to combat their curse.

The Blood Angels are loyal, yes, but are subject to being controlled by their curse. . . Same as the Wulfen in the space wolves. Sadly, most chapters do have a curse of some kind. . . But still loving the mini's (Iron Snakes blatantly win)

pvtpuffy they are about as trustworthy as a vampire. Wait, they are vampires....
Space wolves are werewolves Bloodangels are vampires Eldar are Elves Dark Eldar are dark Elves Imperial Guard are decendents of Van Helsing. Orks are well Orks Squats are Dwarves
If you look close enough everything that GW has done is a rip off of other peoples works that they put their little TM on and are quick to take someone to court for copyright infringment with the veiled attempt to show that the party is taking their copywritten work.
Probably a good thing that others have more to do then take places like GW to court. Otherwise we would never have a game to play.
BTW go with the Blood ravens. I like the paint scheme and would love to see what the fluff says.

I really like the Iron snakes. The publication was pretty cool. they go into good detail about them, so you could get names and ideas from the pages. I have seen lots of blood raven armies recently, and no doubt there will be more of them with the release of DOW II.
The silver armour is cool too, you might even be able to do them in nmm, if you want the challenge.
"modify"
And by the way SSGTDude, games workshop have been around for a real long time. Blizzard approached games workshop before making warcraft and starcraft, and ripped off lots of ideas from them. I mean, if we are going to make this arguement, Games Workshop ripped off D&D, who ripped off JRR Tolkien, who ripped off Mythology. And it isn't like old JRR's son, doesn't do exactly the same thing when someone wants to use anything from LOTR. That's the reason you can't use parts of LOTR models in conversions at GW Tournaments and painting competitions.
Everything old, is new again.
But I do have to agree with you there are quite a few similarities recently between gw products and other people's intellectual property. I am not trying to start a flame, just pointing out the continuation of the logic.
I happen to have a distinct hate for remake movies, that do a worse job than movies made in the 60's or 70's.

NO offense taken, but the reason for the LOTR not being used in GW tournaments is the licensing. You can still use them for conversion if they are not recognizable when completed.Yeah, would have to agree with this. WOuld hate to see a remake of 2001 a Space Odessay now.

Agreed. They KILLED "I am Legend" when they made a remake, and the original film KILLED the book.

MABUS! I TOTALLY WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE WITH YOU!
Sorry, had to put that. . .
GW do rip off old stories and themes, but add their own "spice" to the mix. . . As everyone does. . . You can't really come up with anything original these days wiothout someone thinking about it some 2 - 300 years ago . . . Unluckily. .

Back on topic.
Painting a marine red is like having a belly button. if it isn't red it is blue (the marine, not the belly button).
Red marines just strikes me as so generic.
I still vote Iron snakes, they are distinct.
