Ok so i think i didn't quite lose this due to stupid victory points conditions like i thought. You see at the end of the game he had 2 units fleeing (one which was at 1/3 strength and just goblins and another with 2 guys left a champion and a wizard) and then the other unit he had left (his only not fleeing unit) had his warboss and a champion left so another 2 guys. Now because of stupidity and rules if you don't kill every single last guy in a unit that unit doesn't count for victory points. I'll leave the rest to you to figure out how we thought i lost. Of course i found out later he would've needed at least double my victory points to win and he didn't have that. I had over 850 pts left (warpfire thrower, stormvermin and their stuff, plague monks, plague priest and a plague furnace) To be fair the stormvermin had 2 guys left but considering one of his two man units was bordering the edge, another way halfway or more off the table and his remaining unit had 2 guys to charge a warpfire thrower i think it's safe to say i was going to win. Even with 4 plague monks, a plague priest and a plague furnace i'd still win if we played till the death.
Anyway the game starts and he has an entire lore of the little waaagh! for one of his dudes (possibly riding the arachnorok but probably not). He had 2-3 wizards this game. I get wither which is helpful and cloud of corruption the spell i was praying to get for once because it'd rip fanatics a new [not a very nice person] considering each unit gets d6 str 5 wounds and each fanatic is a seperate unit when they leave. I don't remember how everything worked out but i remember my clanrats took like 7d6 worth of night goblin fanatic hits by either moving through the fanatics and killing them or getting run through by the fanatics. Some of the fanatics also later killed themselves.
I remember making some weird movement and then moving my stormvermin close to my doomwheel to prevent it from shooting the hellpit so i think it shot the stormvermin but i can't remember. The doomwheel got charged by his arachnorok though and after all sorts of pain caused and running away i went through a fanatic and the doomwheel almost died.
His arachnorok failed to go very far and i charged it in the flank with my rat ogres and warlord on bonebreaker with fellblade and to the front with my stormvermin. In what must have been an epically heroic attack my warlord by himself wounded it 3 times and did d6 wounds for each unsaved wound killing the arachnorok outright. I like imagining he hit it across the face or cut off a couple legs and then finished it off by cutting straight into its underside or stabbing it in the head. The night goblin wizard probably now surrounded and urineing himself just got finished up by a few guys like rat ogres and such.
My plague censers didn't do as much as i hoped however. My plague censers were injured going in there and in the melee i did some damage but those stupid regeneration saves were saving his trolls plus he reduced my initiative to 1 so we were ging simultaneously. I lost the first combat but i made leadership due to the plague monks being near the plague furnace and being stubborn not to mention within the general's inspiring presence and getting the rank bonus from the plague monks with a BSB for re-rolls if that wasn't enough. So i think they were still leadership 10 re-rollable even after losing combat by quite a bit.
Early on in the game i used my gutter runners poisoned slings against the giant and did 4 wounds instantly. His goblins tried to charge my gutter runners and failed but i still stood and shot (i learned this time). Then later on even when stuff was in combat or whatever i just shot into the giant again and finally killed it.
I shot some poisoned wind mortar shots at the enemy and did some damage.
My clanrats handled ok in their melee and forced the enemy night goblins to lose twice and one time because the night goblins netted themselves. Oh yeah and i forgot to mention this night goblins player put 3 fanatics in each of his night goblins units (read all the goblin units) and outfitted i think all of them with netters. Night goblins are filled with lots of lame and stupid tricks. I think luck eventually ran out and the clanrats died by getting run down or something but they lasted longer than i could've hoped.
I attacked with the hellpit into the other night goblin unit earlier and then because i was annoyed at the goblins not running away after a couple turns i charged the rat ogres and warlord with bonebreaker into their flank and then the gutter runners to their front and reducd their unit down to one guy which i of course ran down.
At the same time as when i attacked with 3 units on that one i charged stormvermin into the flank of a bunch of night goblins sensing a weakness. Of course more fanatics pop out of his unit's ass and damage my stormvermin enough to cause a panic and then i run through another one of his fanatics and almost all of my stormvermin die. Somehow by divine intervention i roll double 1's for leadership later which is really hard. Surprisingly my opponent also rolled double ones for his understrength unit that needed double 1's to get back in the fight.
So basically at this point i just have my plague furnace and plague monks fight the trolls and another night goblin unit and caused 2 of the units to run. I get charged in the rear at some point (from the unit that ran down my poisoned wind mortar) and i fight those guys off. I then get charged in the front by trolls and the weak night goblin unit and get them to flee again and then run down the trolls because they annoyed me. Somehow the 2 man unit was an inch away from the board edge at the end of the game and my 4-5 plague monks stood there unable to really chase them down and just standing victorious i guess. I tried to use cloud of corruption on his units but he kept preventing that sometimes with double 6's to dispell and once using a dispel scroll for something (wither i think).
However at the same time as the beginning of this huge battle i had to mess around with my warlord and and rat ogres and his night goblins flanked my rat ogres. This would seem bad and was but i made way with my leader and his mount and killed a bunch of guys. I managed to run away but unfortunately due to my stupid formation for gutter runners the running rat ogres and warlord panicked them and they failed about another 2-3 leadership checks each at leadership 7 and totally failed me and ran off the board. The hellpit however got charged in the flank by the same night goblin unit and i managed to do a ton of damage and even had the doomwheel charge in and later lose its last wound and the enemy had 3 guys before the hellpit finally died. Normally i should've had rat swarms come out of the hellpit but i had no models to represent them (should've used rat ogres). At this point he tried to charge my warpfire thrower and i shot at his 3 man unit and killed the BSB. I shot again in my turn but shot too far and did nothing. At that point the game basically ended.
So my heroes of the game would be the plague priest casting cloud of corruption and killing off a bunch of fanatics as well as enemies and some of my guys but it was worth it to clear the field of those landmines. The plague furnace and plague monks did a ton of damage and took on 3 whole units and even when they rallied i killed them again. The fog attacks of the plague furnace didn't do much but the giant censer swinging helped combat almost every time. I think i rolled a 10 once and an 8 another time. With the 8 i did like 7 wounds at the end of combat just with swinging the giant censer. Gotta say i love that thing even though it misfires sometimes. I'd say the warlord was an awesome hero but when you kill an arachnorok like a bad ass and then run away like a little pussy due to a flank charge and keep running until you're off the board there's something wrong with you. If you just killed a bad ass monster in close combat a unit should be no problem for you or you should at least rally and not cause another unit to panic. The hellpit did some damage and stayed alive an insanely long time. Just a little more and i would've finished off his unit. It was down to the wire in that battle. Even with poisoned attacks his unit couldn't kill my hellpit thanks to regeneration. The gutter runners killed off a giant and did some damage to night goblins in melee and at range. Really that's all they did.
So yeah sorry for the wall of text. I hope you enjoyed that battle report as i enjoyed talking about it. Of course since i write so much only a couple people will probably read it. We figured he must've had over 1k points left on the board with the units i mentioned earlier. Really he should've failed horribly. Anyway it was still a fun game. I hope you enjoyed reading.
