Dear readers, I have finally started, my new warhammer gaming table! I will keep the text short as pictures will describe better what i do then words. Steps made - achieved materials - made generic landscape and glued into place - glued a thick layer of wood glue on top of the hills for extra strength - made a road running trough the table - made the side of the road using a bit thicker sand now it looks like this! I have another plate as you can see underneath the one thats lying on top. However, i was too enthousiaistic to start and didnt get a photo of that one... i will post some somewhere this week. My thought was just to share. Comments and critics always welcome. Mainly just to keep track of myself. and to let other see enjoy! (for what its worth) stage 2 oke,... left up corner isnt painted good enough,.. spraycan went dead just before the end... bummer

thanks and its meant to be abstract. that way, i can still place houses and moveable scenery around tje board so im not tied to fixed in place trees and such. also, i didnt want any rocky cliffs and such for movement and difficult terrain tests and such. i will certainly keep you guys updated! i also started making some other stuff which will be posted someday on this forum... o well.. time to sleep. untill next time

tonight an update will follow! im going to not-drybrush this table and try spraypainting it from a distance with a lighter brown/bleached bone kind of colour. When spraypainting this table i saw that i had to apply it fairly thick to get inside the recesses. I hope by spraying from some distance to only hit the upper surface. Maybe spraying in a 45 degree angle. however, i will have a go at it this evening! Hopefully it will work, if not, im doomed and have to redo a piece.... well see what happens!

well,... spraying worked fine for making a table! saves a lot of trouble painting consistently with a brush. However, its just as easy to do it all wrong (which some places were ) As for the lesson i learned, spray in a circulair pattern, if going from left to right, you get dots in your paint because your standing still at your turns! (not good!!!) this especially is essential for the second spray which should be the highlight! It worked decent enough for me to spray from a distance. its not the best highlighting job in the world, but itll do. I didnt want to spend a lot of time on this table as my scenery isnt that great either (mostly cardboard stuff!) But im happy with my table, i think! So, here are the pics from my table as is. the glue beneath the flock is currently drying. Tomorrow after work, i get to see my new table in all its glory! I sure hope the flock turned out nice!... it was so difficult getting the glue over the rocky fields... o well... now we wait!:devil2:

Looks good, only thing i have is that you don't have a modular hill, and that might become a bit annoying by time.. But other than that it looks good..

well, they are not modular, HOWEVER! im also constructing 2 'half a hill's' to connect to 1 plate. This way, i could use 1 board with pre made hills and 1 flat board.
though the boards arent the same colours they will do the job prett well i guess. also, with no moveable hills i tend to see my gaminggroup ends up with symmetrical tables most of the tim (having a hill on both sides of the table or none at al!) So, i guess nobody at my house will complain, and if they do, i still have my crappy tabel with modular hills available (which will still be used on a regular basis)
After making this one, temptation is strong to make 6 to 10 pieces of 24"x24" with awesome stuff on it to either use as HUGE scenery pieces or combine them as as a modular table... this however will be a LOT more work than this thing...
O well... i guess ill first have to see how this one works out. Im getting very doubtfull on how many glue i used,... i think it was too little.... i hope my table doesnt get raped by my poor glueing-flock-on-sand-skills... may the emperor be with me on this one!

i want to make a table based around the map 'Cracked' from call of duty black ops...... i think it could be quite fun, since line of sight is almost obscured until close quarters, lots of cover on boths sides and ruins central with a big rubble hill......YAY! but one problem..... no were to put it >.<

About the terrain ending up being modular, sure it might end up pretty symetrical if the players put it up like the rulebook says.. We tend to make a 3d guy setup the terrain and roll for mission/Battle mission.. Above is a picture of our terrain, it consists of 8 24" x 48" boards and the only "permanent" pieces of terrain are shell craters, a few trenches and a river on one of them.. Personally i am just happy to see somebody doing some work to make their gaming table look good.. It just gives the game much more life and looks 1000 times better than a green table cloth with roses and gardening tools (Seen it...) Again good work mate..
