Hey guys!
Has anyone ever heard of the "Gem" technique? I saw it posted on another forum, but there were no details as how to go about doing this? Does anyone know what this means and how to do it?
If not, how do some of you go about painting the eyes to give them that realistic look with reflective light and gradual change in color shade? On top of that what tools do you use, since even the detail brushes tend to be a little to big to do the eye sockets?
Thank you all!

Hi Krieg, I can help you here You're after something like these...? For eyes, lenses, gems and jewels It's all pretty much the same. 1) Base Colour 2) Highlight with a lighter colour in one corner! Usually the bottom front, 3) stronger Highlight 4) TINY dot of white in the darker corner And you're done, you're aiming for something like this... All you need is a fine detail brush and a steady hand. Cosmic

For glass I use fenris grey, shadow grey and space wolves grey, I find it not too overpowering. Light blues look good if you want something a bit more eye catching. Good luck, and make sure each is dry before the next

Thanks for the tips guys! So this is what I am envisioning... Since the Krieg guys are from a deathworld I imagine their atmosphere is like a tainted greenish type of color from all the radiation and lack of ecosystem etc.... I want to give them a bright greenish type of lense to represent the reflection of the atmosphere of Krieg. I saw this mounted Commissar on cool mini or not and the eyes sold me. Any Ideas as to what color combos this person may have used??

Damnit... they turned out a lot smaller than they were supposed to.... here's the website with a bigger picture, the horse's mask shows the colors fairly well. www.coolminiornot.com/267894

Hard to tell. Looks like they may have used Snot green as a base, and worked up to Goblin green and possibly Scorpion green?

The above sounds about right, although id skip the black and start at dark angels green as suggested. Good luck!
