thats a long shaft..... *chuckles*..... i see what you mean about not being able to mistake it with a GW vanquisher barrel.... awsome the steel legion officer is a nice addition as a tank commander Dave

Ahhh... it's a DKoK turret. That explains why I didn't recognize it--I was only familiar with the Gryphonne IV and Stygies VIII pattern barrels, and hadn't checked out the DKoK offerings...

yup I prefer it to the other two variants, especially coming with a co-axial heavy stubber simply for the added range over the storm bolter, since you aren't using it to do actual damage, just land hits to boost the vanquisher cannon aim.

Yeah, I was upset that the current Guard codex took away the co-axial options, as when I was converting my Vanquisher all those years ago, I modeled a co-ax stubber alongside the barrel...

especially since they removed the option to fire as a standard battle cannon too, they could have at least left in the co-axial

I would personally go with a 180 point LR Vanquisher which can fire MBT rounds as well, with a co-axial upgrade as oppose to a 155 pt current vanquisher.
You know...it would be interesting to see what would happen to the guard codex if Ward wrote the next one...I'm envisioning ogryn stormies able to deep strike with no scatter armed with assault 2 plasma guns

But yeah, I'd love it if the Vanquisher could still fire normal battle cannon shells.

I wish they would hurry up and make plastic storm troopers. And a colossus, I want lots of those.

Im sure they'll make plastic stormies once the metal ones run out. as for the Colossus... ME TOO! but alas... I dont forsee one coming out for another couple of years. Thats how GW works, giving model options without the model... its cold blooded!

well I would rather them make the rules for something and release the model when they got the chance, than just not add the unit to the codex...

It also means people have to buy more things to acquire parts for conversion.

Yea you spend a heck of a lot more money on conversions than kits.. usually unless youre really crafty with card tubes and styro foam

I often don't spend more money, because I are awesome cat :3

practice makes perfect. For me it is one of those things where the idea tends to just leap into my head pretty much fully formed. I look at something and suddenly, pop, and I am away, glue flying everywhere...

hahaha! I think my major problem is I dont have enough free time to act on Ideas. I do have plenty of them (like my krieg blimp wouldnt mind making a submarine type thing too) I just try to keep the ideas in my head till I have time to start acting on them

you could try writing your ideas down/drawing them, then you get an idea of what bits you need, and can start pricing it up, then you know what to aim for. Reference materials help too, I have two huge books on tanks that cover every tank made up to the point of publishing, an encyclopedia of weapons, covering everything from morning stars to ICBM's, and a huge photo history of world war two, gives me plenty of stuff to work from.

Yup, that's usually how my conversions come about as well--more often than not fueled by a mix of lack of sleep and excessive amounts of caffeine...

hahahahah Agreed on both accounts. but the books idea is fantastic. Never actually thought of that! Thank you, Kirsten! I have tons of books at home with WWII photos etc. to the drawing board

I did pretty well on the book front, the larger tank book, weapons encyclopedia, and photographic history books, all should have been £30+ each, I got for £5 each in one of those weird book stores you find that don't stock anything normal, and hardly anything anybody would ever want to buy, and everything is ridiculously cheap.
